| I just started doing Atkins on Feb 1st and last week I decided to get a Diet Sunkist. When I was drinking it I noticed it tasted really good and didn't even taste like diet so I thought maybe that's just how it was. I'm positive it said Diet on the label. I got one yesterday and I could totally tell it was diet and it tasted so different. Do you think it's possible they could have put the wrong label on it? Ive been doing so well I was actually sticking to this diet and thinking that I could've had that extra 40 carbs or however many are in a regular soda feels like everything I did was a waste!:( |

| Hey, don't stress too badly - if you did drink a regular soda last week, it may have delayed ketosis a bit but it's very likely that the effects are completely gone from your body by now. Drinking lots of fresh, clear water will help clear it out, too. Well, drinking lots of water is very helpful for weight loss, especially on a low carb eating plan. Some people find that sodas made with aspartame (Equal) slow weight loss. However, there are some diet sodas that are made with sucralose (Splenda) - Hansen's diet sodas and Diet Rite... there may be others I cannot remember now.

| Diet RC Cola and Ready-to-drink Crystal Light (not the powdered!) are two others. Teel is right, water is the best thing we can drink for weight loss.

| As Teelbe says Don't stress about it. The damage if any was temporary. It might just be something as simple as a formula change. I know that diet snapple drinks use aspartame but their diet green tea uses splenda. Things like that might account for the taste difference. But let's say that the juice you drank had 40 carbs. If you increased exercise (very important to exercise) for a day or 2 those carbohydrates which were stored as energy (glycogen) would be burned off. Remember that the brain uses carbohydrates as its main fuel but works as well or better burning ketones. So if you were still in ketosis after this drink your brain is using ketones, if the juice threw you out of ketosis your brain was burning those carbohydrates. But since the brain needs quite a bit more than 40 carbs a day to function (your liver is able to convert protein etc to glucose if need be) you have already burned whatever carbs were in that drink. |

| yep yep, i totally agree with what the others have said, AND i think it's something we've probably all done or worried about doing, so don't stress it too badly. you just gotta view it as one little unintentional foul-up & keep on truckin'!
