    Default South Beach to Atkins

    Hi there,

I'm considering switching from South Beach to Atkins. Now just to preface this, I've been eating like Atkins lately, except I've been using low fat meats and cheeses. I've been eating all the legal veggies for both South Beach and Atkins. The only think I can see changing is that I'll be able to eat all kinds of meats on Atkins, all kinds of regular cheese and regular salad dressings (All the while counting carbs. I understand all the principals as I've been on Atkins before). I'm about 3 weeks into South Beach and want to convert. Can I just make a gradual transition without having to redo induction since I went through it basically with South Beach?

Yes I know, no more milk, that's fine, I really missed my cream, LOL.

Also I understand I can't have anymore soda with aspertame.

    Any advice?

    Thanks,
    Jaguar

IMO, there would not be much point in going through induction again. I think you should be fine to move to Atkins-style LC at a pace that suits you.

Jaguar - It sounds like you have mostly depleted your glycogen stores which is the main point of Atkins induction. How many carbs are you going to start off with? If you keep net carbs low enough at the beginning I see no reason you have to redo induction.

Well, I was thinking to keep it on 20 carbs at least for my first week back to atkins and then raise it by 5. I mainly want make sure I can have all parts of chicken, turkey and meats and cream cheeses and others. I think this will be more flexible for me. I'm going to keep salsa in my diet though, I've been eating it the whole of two weeks with no adverse affects (I've used salsa on Atkins as well). I'll probably add nuts sometime after a week though.

    Thanks for the advice!
