Question Is it possible that Dreamfield pasta is really a DREAM???

Ok, I was thrilled to find Dreamfields pasta, a nice change from meat. I made a lasagna knock-off using Dreamfields penne, lean ground beef, onions, mushrooms, Carb options spagetti sauce, ricotta and cottage cheese as well as mozzeralla, and a touch of parmasean. It was awesome!!! I served it to my entire family at my mothers B-day dinner and they all loved it (didn't mention it was LC). My kids actuallly liked it so I decided to make one for us at home but we had a ton leftover (DH is away on business). Great (or so I thought) I had lunch for the next couple of days, lasanga and salad.
Can you say STALL!!!
My plan was to ramp up my water and workouts while DH was away and to drop some serious weight, but I was stalled regardless of how much I worked out or drank water. Once I stopped eating the pasta my weightloss continued and I dropped 4lbs in a week!! Has anyone else experienced this with Dreamfields, or is it just a fluke???

LG, I think it's not only possible, but I would almost guarantee the pasta caused your stall. There's a big debate about this stuff, how it's made, the ingredients etc. I avoid it completely. For me, it brings back old cravings like wild. I think Maggie tested her glucose response after consuming Dreamfield's and it wasn't good. Have it once a year or never would be my advice.

**EDIT**
You can find the discussion about Dreamfield's here.

Yeah... That's why I never even thought about trying it.

You CANNOT believe any claims made for low-carb products. They can get away with saying just about anything because there are no FDA standards about what is low-carb and what isn't, and no useful definition of what "Net effective carbs" means, either.

Almost all "low-carb specialty foods," with few exceptions, will ruin your diet. We can get into arguments with the few people that claim good results, but it's not worth it to me. Just knowing that Atkins Nutritionals is the worst offender in this regard ought to be warning enough that you can't trust anything just because of a label.

Well, LG, thank you for being another "Dreamfield Guinea Pig." Now you know! And you have just strengthened my resolve to never try the stuff.

Not to toss a wrench in the discussion...but I for one have no problem with the pasta. But I also believe it's in the useage of it. I don't have an entire portion when I do eat it....which is maybe once a month when I find myself getting cravings for pasta (used to eat it religiously before LC). I also don't eat it more than once, not several days in a row. Perhaps this is a YMMV issue for some...as I've always continued a loss on it.

Again, not wanting to start a heated discussion...just wanted to say that I for one don't have issue with it using it as I have.

I don't have a problem with it either...as long as I odn't eat it every day for a few days but every couple of weeks I do fine on it. But I didn't do well the first couple of times...not sure what the difference is now or why but just know it works for me...

I am with Michelle and Lori..... I do have l/c pasta on occasion, but NEVER a full serving.... and MAYBE once a month... and that's it. Whatever is left after that serving goes down the garbage disposal. It's one of those "luxury" meals for me..... Use to have pasta daily (father was Italian) so did well until a couple of years ago when the metabolism slows down.... Still have some Dreamfields in the pantry, but haven't had any in about a month.... probably won't for another month at least. Just one of those "comfort" foods I feel I NEED to have in the pantry just in the event I feel the PASTA demon coming at me! Also have tried Bella Vita Pasta from Big Lots. Rob bought some too. Was only like $.40 for a box... It was passable with l/c alfredo sauce and a little bit of crumbled up bacon, but it was defintely soy tasting, but hey, if you crave pasta and l/c is the only option, it tastes pretty good! I would just stay with 1/2 portion and leave it at that if you want to try it again... Just make certain you calculate the TRUE carbs, not what the package says!

I too eat dreamfields pastas... I noticed for the next day or so my weight goes up a pound or so, but by watching closely what I eat for those couple days, it goes back to where it was. I love pasta, and altho I can't have it on a weekly basis, dreamfields allows me to 'splurge' once every couple weeks.

from what i've seen, some people can tolerate it and some can't. at best, if you're gonna eat it, i wouldn't do it very often.

You can make a terrific lasagna using long-way slices zucchini (blanched and dried before using) as your noodles. Do everything else the same, just sub in the zucchini "sheets" for noodles.

I too have the dreamsfields in extreme moderation. about twice a month and i get more than double the servings the box says. whatever's leftover i leave for the kids, which usually isnt very much since i usually cook 3x out of a box. Not so sure i can trust having it more frequently than that.

When I was a kid, I liked just plain pasta - no butter, no cheese, no sauce. Later in life, the pasta just became a vehicle for the sauce. So, now I use shredded* zucchini or summer squash, or spaghetti squash as the vehicle for the sauce. It's not just the same as pasta, but it's very tasty and so healthy.

I've learned to just barely cook the zucchini and summer squash noodles, as they get watery if over cooked. Otherwise, I'm happy having a new dish to use with my favorite sauces.

*I use a Benringer rotary slicer to cut the squash into noodles - takes just a minute. There are other rotary slicers that do the same thing... Spirooli? was that the name? A lot of people love the Spirooli.

I have dreamfields maybe once a month, at the most... i got a box yesterday to have some tonite with turkey/beef meatballs, and sauce....
But I will measure out 1/2 cup cooked pasta and that is all I will have... I will make a wonderful salad to go with it, and eat lots of that....
i don't think I stall, but I do feel it going thru my system in a "laxative" way...
and don't really like that feeling.
so, what ever is left over usually goes in to the freezer for another meal later
for a lunch next week.
