Marriage between two people who truly care for each other is very special but it still requires hard work.

I was happily married a few years, miserably married the rest of my 12+ year marriage.
I may not be in a position to give advice, but I'm going to offer it up just the same. (too bad I'm not Jewish. I'd make a great Jewish mom! LOL)

Do become one with your husband physically, emotionally and in spirit. But also retain your own sense of self. Maintain the friendships you had before you became a couple. Allow yourself to have hobbies, interests and time outside the home without your husband. Be flexible, be willing to do what he wants to do. But also speak up when there are things that you want to do.

I'm a firm believer that wives should submit to their husbands. But I also believe that husbands should submit to their wives. Neither is to become a slave nor doormat. Decisions should be discussed, not made by one or the other. There are times when you'll need to put your wants and desires behind you and go along with your husband. But there will be times that you will need to firmly and lovingly stress what is important to you.

Most of all...keep the communication open. When communication stops, the relationship stops growing and will soon wither.
