Default Successful members daily foods

I restarted on Jan 3, 2005. Lost 10 lbs. and havn't lost an inch or ounce since. I am sticking to whole fresh or frozen foods, net carbs between 20 and 30 per day. No bars, shakes, candy. Carb options olive oil salad dressing mostly, sometimes the carb options ranch. I have 20-25 lbs. to loose just so I will be in the healthy bmi range. Exercising 3-4 times per week for 40 minutes. Calories between 900 to 1300 per day. If I eat more calories I will gain.
I would like to view some of the successful members daily food choices. I eat Maggie's cereal with blueberries, a splash of Davinci vanilla syrup and about 3/4 oz. heavy cream every morning. Trying to cut back on eggs and beef due to high LDL.
I eat chicken, pork, turkey and tuna, 4-6 oz. for lunch and another 4-6 oz. for dinner. Other fish is just too expensive.
Salads, broccoli, cauliflower, zuchini, spaghetti squash. I limit cheese to no more than 4 oz in a day, and not every day.

I drink 70-80 oz. water a day and 1 cup of coffee in the am.

I just don't understand.
Thanks for reading.

I forgot I eat one or two low carb yogurts a day. Either Dannon or Bluebunny.

That's all I can offer you at the moment, Hesperis. Sounds like a rather discouraging few weeks. Your menu looks fine to me.

900 cals sounds on the low side, even though you are not very tall. Since you are exercising, I recommend that you strive to keep the calories at 1300, at least, in order to make your metabolism work as hard as possible and not resist accessing the storage.

It's always possible that Atkins isn't the plan for you. I had great success losing a lot of weight (50 lbs.) on low-fat. As a limited-time approach, this could work for you, with a switch back to low-carb for maintenance at a later time. Weight management is definitely a "know thyself" project.

Best wishes!

My wife and I are in the same boat...(this time around...).

We always had great success with this WOE (until this time). Which is weird since we have stayed on plan 99.9% since Jan 1.

We both lost 10 lbs within about 2 weeks...then 3 over the last 3 months...

I'm not concerned (cause I'm not gaining) and I'm eating things I love and do not feel deprived. But last time, I went from 207 down to the lower 180s in just a few months... This time I hover between 190 and 193 week to week to week (I'm 5'11).

The only real difference this time around is a major decrease in my water intake and massive increase in coffee intake (bought one of those damn Senseo coffee makers (umm good!))

So I know where the problems are probably: not enough water, too much coffee, and maybe the cheese (and more veggies earlier in the day...)...

My average daily menu is:

Breakfast:
3 Sausage Patties (2g Carbs each)
1 Hard Boiled Egg (1g I guess)
2 Cups of coffee (one packet of splenda and dash of Heavy Cream)
1 Multi-Vitamin (CARB Smart)

Snack:
2 Cups of coffee

Lunch:
Normally left overs from previous dinner:
1 Chicken Breast (or luncheon meat (no sugar) and string cheese)
1 Dite Rite Cola

Occasional Snack:
String cheese
Cucumber slices

Dinner:
Large Salad (3 black olives, 3 cherry tomatoes, cheese, ranch, cucumbers, bacon, coliflower, broccoli)
Protein (chicken breast or salmon or steak or hambuger steak
Side (spagetti squash or broccoli or faux potatos)

Thanks Barb, I have lost down to 105 lbs about 10 years ago on Low Fat. But suffered from indigestion and constant hunger. And as one can redily see I couldn't stick with it long term. I don't think I could handle that again.

I'm not sure I qualify as a "successful member"...but perhaps try upping your water and try not indulging in the yogurt and see what happens. Otherwise everything looks well within limits.

Did you take measurements....are you clothes feeling different? Perhaps change up your workout routine to throw your body into a new routine.

I agree with KD above about the yogurt. I stopped losing weight while I ate yogurt. I know some people can eat it and still lose, but I'm not one of them. And, I really like yogurt, too. Oh, well. Still plenty of good things to eat!

Aside to wolfman - you know that coffee has carbs, right? I haven't looked it up recently, but I think it's 1 g carb per 6 oz. cup. I still drink coffee, but I've cut way back (2 mugs/day). FWIW, Atkins' book suggests that caffine can interfer with weight loss. Apparently, caffine may trigger unstable blood sugar, so Atkins recommended using decaf.

Just my two cents: I have broken stalls over the years by upping my carbs and calories for a day and then going back to eating clean. I know that this doesn't work for everyone, but my body seems to need to think that things are going back to "normal" (hehe), so I "fool" it by getting my metabolism going again. I don't eat "bad" stuff, but just stuff that isn't on lc.

If you are having problems, ditch the yogurt. Some people say they can eat yogurt and lose, but I'm not one of them. God, I love yogurt. Too bad.

What do I eat? I had Maggie's cereal this morning with a little cream, Hood milk, and about five chunks of carb-clever canned peaches.

Last night I had about 3/4 pounds of frozen ocean perch, the cheapest fish at Trader Joe's, $3.59 a pound, fried in peanut oil. Tartar sauce, about 7 raspberries (mixed with the tartar sauce, and a bunch of broccoli with butter.

Lots of coffee with heavy cream, all the time.

Yesterday's breakfast, I had three eggs with Herdez salsa and two hunks of Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage.

I snacked on a few ounces of salted/roasted pumpkin seeds and some havarti cheese.

Thanks everybody. I'll ditch the yogurt. Hopefully that will do the trick. Any other comments are welcome.

The only thing I'd like to add is to use a keto-stick and see if you are in ketosis.
Good luck! Stay focused.

wow... you eat alot better than I do..
sorry to hear of your lack of weightloss... not fun..
i would also ditch the yogurts... if they are a bad one.. i used YOPLAIT ultra... it has bad stuff in it.. even if it IS lower carb... i finally quit buying it... not that i wont EVER have one again... just got out of the "its low carb so i can eat it" mode...

i think ditching it helped alot..

so... the IMPORTANT question to ME is... how are you FEELING eating this way? better? worse? the same?

I feel great on this woe. Never felt better. I do use the ketostix and I have been in Ketosis the whole time after the first few days. Today I have only had 786 calories. I just don't know what else to eat. I guess some blackberries and heavy cream.

Hesperis, not to continue to beat a dead horse, but I agree on the yogurt. Even when it is sweetened with AS, it runs about 14 carbs per container. There are some schools that say that you can divide the carb count of the yogurt by half, but I have always counted it as the full value.

Note, it may be time to up the food a little. Go back and read what Peg said about shocking the system. Don't stay too low on calories for too long, your body will go into a starvation mode and try to hold on to fat for survival purposes. That's why the plan has you start really low, then gradually add carbs until you hit a critical carb level.

Good luck---slowly downward is better than anything upward.
