Default some thanks and some news

okay, i know i just started posting here and all that, but i've been perusing the boards and reading all of your success stories and your struggles and your supportiveness and for the first time in a long time i feel like i'm not alone in this thing. it's so hard being my age (21) and having all these friends that are already slim 'n' trim and don't have to worry about things like weight, and so many times i've felt like i'm the only person i know who's dealing with this situation, the only person who has to battle every day with what i want to eat vs. what i should eat, the only person who worries about such things on a daily basis. then i stumbled across this board, and some of the things i've read have just made me feel so much better, like i'm not the only person in this boat and i don't have to be alone. i'm inspired. so thank you all for that.

as far as news goes, that comes along with the inspiration i've found. i've really been slipping lately and i don't feel good about it. i hit a plateau and just shrugged it off and said "meh, maybe this is just where i'm meant to be stuck" and then just kind of relaxed. but i decided i'm not ready to accept that. i don't want to give up until i hit my goal. so i'm going to restart as of tomorrow and never look back. i just wanted to let you all know how much you had to do with this decision, and to ask if anyone would be interested in being like a support partner-type person, perhaps someone with a similar goal in mind? if nothing else, thx for caring!

new goal: 145. 30lbs to go!

Please stick around. I've found that having someone to talk to is the best encouragement.

As young as you are, it must seem like everyone else is effortlessly thin. For me, it has taken literally decades (I'm 58) to fully accept the fact that I have to think about food (and exercise) day by day forever, in order to make good choices. But when I count the blessings of health and strength--not to mention the anti-aging benefits of good nutrition and exercise--then I know what I've learned is really paying off.

Best wishes!

I hope that at 21 you can figure out what it took me to realize at age 39. I spent all of my adult life seriously obese because my dr told me that weight watchers was the only way to go. Well, I should have know better because as a teen I only needed to lose about 10 lbs, which I did through Atkins. I was afraid of the supposed health risks. Fast forward to now...I feel more in control than I ever have in my life. I may never be thin, but I have my life back. My best advise to you is to see this as a way of life and not a diet. Although, at some point I can see myself having a carb level around 50 - 80 per day, I will never be able to eat unlimited carbs. I am okay with that, because it's a trade off to be able to have so many delicious foods and still lose weight. Mainly it's a mind game and right now I am winning! I have gone through many slow phases the last 18 months, but I truly believe if you stay the course, you will be successful!Best of luck to you! Meg

bah, i love you guys hehe

it's just great to have people to turn to (finally)...

i went shopping tonight (i work at a grocery store and get a decent discount) and spent my last $26 on good food (couple pounds of hamburger, some stew meat, some veggies and some iced tea) and i'm feeling good. it's like tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life~

p.s. if anyone's interested i started up my photo gallery. it's not really that great of one cuz i don't have that many pics of my chunkier self, but i'll try to find some current full-body shots to give the full effect. ^_^
