I haven't been in ketosis for a long time (at least not ovbiously) until yesterday. I don't know what I did differently, any ideas? I haven't been losing much lately. I hope this means I'll start losing again. Unless maybe Aunt Ruth's Pecan Cake is the secret agent to jumpstart ketosis...

Do you drink a lot of water? Sometimes when your not drinking enough water like you should, your weight loss slows downs, and sometimes to a complete stall. Doing Ketosis again can really only be beneficial to you, so you can't go wrong there. Just keep in mind next time you feel like your stalling, and remember to drink your water!

I drink more water than anyone else I know. That's been a constant, so I know it has nothing to do with water. I have a very resistant metabolism. I've been LCing for a year and a half and have lost 47 pounds. I just can't seem to go lower.

Last year, after a months-long plateau, I lightened up on my LC routine. This wasn't necessarily a good idea, as I regained about ten pounds, and I wasn't too happy with myself. However, when I went back on induction in January, I added several components to my plan. The first was fiber, in the form of flaxseed and wheat bran--every day. I also added green tea (both supplements and beverage). I've now lost the ten pounds--and five more, bringing me to goal for the first time since I started LC in 2003. If you're not exercising regularly, I strongly recommend that, too. Although I don't have a good fix on it yet, it appears that my level of carbs for sustained ketosis is something like 30-35. I find that I can eat a big variety of veggies and other things I like and feel happy at that level.

it's pretty difficult to guess what might be different with no information at all. but i can tell you this: i DON'T think it was the cake. really.

Well, so far it didn't make me lose any weight, so who knows? Even when I was losing weight, I usually wasn't in ketosis. If I cut my carbs down too low I don't lose. Unfortunately, I can't really exercise. I keep thinking I should be able to and then pay for it later.

well, there are people that find they never register as being in ketosis, but are still able to lose. if this is the case for you, then what difference could it possibly make whether or not those little sticks change colors? if it's working, just enjoy it.

Well, it's not working right now. I wasn't using the little sticks, I could just tell by the taste in my mouth. It was just strange that it showed up out of nowhere. I was more curious than concerned, though.
