It helps me to put 1/4 c in a snack size plastic baggie ahead of time! Then I can grab one or two to eat. At least then I know how much I'm eating. I know what you mean about eating too much of them. They are yummy!!

What Peg suggests is a good ploy. You can even stick those baggies in the freezer so you'll have to wait for them to defrost. Personally I just don't buy nuts very often because i have the same problem with portion control. But I will occasionally buy the 1.25 ounce bag of smoked almonds at my local gas station. Or just purchase a tiny amount at a time when I go to whole foods.

I have the same problem and have resorted to not buying large quantities of nuts. Which of course makes them more expensive to buy them in the small containers but mind over matter just doesn't work for me in some situations.

I have the same problem...I have tried portioning them and that works pretty well. However, I have really started to try to have something else instead, such as olives or pickles. They tend to satiate my craving for something salty!

I had to give them up. I was just not able to be in control. My portions kept growing. I wil maybe go back to them in maintenance, but for now when i want salty, i stick to pork skins.

Good luck!

I had to also basically give up nuts.... I found myself actually craving them and found it difficult to stop eating them........ hide the last bag of nuts in the very bottom of the freezer where the sun don't shine Nuts are one of the few things for me with portion control, but it is a real issue with me. I did try dividing them up into baggies and weighing each portion..... but always found myself "wanting" another serving, so just don't allow myself to eat them any longer. Hopefully, you will be able to figure it out and still keep them in your diet..... Good luck!

everybody loves those nuts. my husband asked me to take a hiatus from buying cashews for that very reason...

with any food that i have difficulty with portion control, though...i divide it up into whatever i would consider an individual portion and freeze it. then you get out one at a time and you have to plan far enough ahead to defrost it.

Portion control. Another idea, buy almonds or walnuts which are really good for you and they may not be quite as addictive.

I have been buying almond slivers and walnut pieces because you feel like you are getting more even with a little amount..I still probably eat more than I should but i buy little bags so the worst i can do on a whole bag is about 5.5 grams i usually take about 3 turns to eat the bag...I have a problem with chocolate though can't eat just one piece so I rarely buy it...Cadbury lite is yummy......
