On the second full day of TOM my weight goes up about 7 pounds. So don't fret! Everyone is different, some women gain even more weight than that for a few days. I suggest you stay off the scale for a week. That's what I do.

You should also up your water intake a little bit while TOM is visiting..... I know you feel already bloated, but it is important to do that in order for your body to flush out and release the excess water it is storing for TOM.... If you do that, you will do fine and expect a weight loss once TOM is over. It is normal to gain a couple of pounds for most people either shortly before TOM or the first couple of days. It is all water retention basically and you will loose it afterwards. Don't fret, just stay off the scale as Cushie said for a few days and DRINK YOUR WATER

yeah, as the others told you: the weight is tom. in fact, the feeling like you want to cry is another symptom. just eat like you always do, drink plenty of water and ignore the scales for a few days. best thing for ya!

I definitely stay off the scale during my TOM. You are going to be fine. Stick with it and I bet a couple days after TOM - you might have even lost a pound. Even if you don't you will have never seen the weight gain during TOM if you didn't weigh yourself. You can and will get through this.

I can usually count on gaining 2-4 pounds. I've found though that since I started drinking green tea religiously, I don't have as much bloat and very few PMS symptoms anymore. Anything with caffiene in it is a diuretic....although green tea has way less caffiene than coffee has.

"TOM Bloat" IS normal and not to be fretted over. It is aggravating, though.

I vary greatly---anything up to 10 lbs is pretty normal for me...I gained 12 once...but I also had a bunch of junk I shouldn't have had and lots of salt causes water retention too...so stay off the scale a week or so and just keep doing what you know works for you.

I used to have a 4 pound swing -- though after all these years, i now never weigh myself just before of during TOM, only after.

Anywhere from 6 to 8 pounds is a normal "gain" for me. It all goes away when things simmer down, however.

I gain about 5 pounds and it usually all comes off after a few days and is completely gone after a week as long as I have not cheated. I will usually chew alot of SF gum to cope with the sugar cravings that always happen around that time.
