I'm glad there are more Splenda-sweetened products hitting the market (see the Lipton Green tea thread), but I hope it won't cause there to be a shortage of the stuff for us! I heard there might be a shortage....does anyone else remember that?

I want to apologise to Texashottie. I took my reply to your criticism of Starwars to far. I just saw the movie last night and thought it was great, so when I woke up today and read your post I was not in the my best mood. I should have not posted my replied so early in the day. Again, I'm sorry for my harsh words.

I kinda like it. Tastes like one of my tricks from the old days. . . 1/2 Real coke and 1/2 diet. Don't mind it a bit. But, I must admit that the very thought of a Coca Cola Classic, poured over a glass of ice, makes my temperature rise. OOOOOOOHHHHHH, forbidden Coke! Makes me do my Homer Simpson face.

Thanks Kim, I'm not as sweet as that diet coke with splenda. I had one last week just to give it a try. It's good but my taste buds must have changed since I don't eat or drink many sweets anymore. I could taste the splenda for two hours after I drank it.

Ed, my best friend said the same thing.....and her cat looks suspiciously like your avatar.....Teresa, if you are on this board masquarading as a man, just own up to it now! I won't understand, but I won't be mad, either. C'mon, 'fess up. It's hard for me to imagine 2 people would both say they "tasted the Splenda 2 hours later". You're busted!

Maxi, I would bet more people will say the new diet coke has an after taste that last for hours. It was so weird it started to make me think it might not be good for you. It makes you keep thinking about having another one that's for sure. The folks a Coke must love that.

It may just be a matter of tastebuds. For instance, as far as Sweet-n-Low goes, there are "tasters" that think it tastes sweet. And "non-tasters" that think it is bitter. Like being Rh positive or negative. You're either one or the other. Some people have funny-smelling pee after they eat asparagus...some don't.

I like Equal (aspartame). I cannot differentiate it from Splenda on flavor. But since aspartame has gotten alot of negative press and Splenda is supposed to be better, I like to use it. The only difference I could tell was in the Diet Coke formulas: original and Splenda-sweetened. But not much difference...and in a blind taste test, I'm not sure I could tell.
But, I already knew I am weird. I am the only person in America (or at least Texas) that absolutely DETESTS Dr.Pepper in any form. The mere smell of it sends my stomach lurching. I've gotten it twice by mistake in the drive-thru and just wanted to vomit. But, the rest of the world seems to love the stuff. Odd, huh?
