Default Diet Coke with Splenda

Diet Coke with Splenda-not to bad for someone who isn't a big Diet Coke drinker but who drinks a LOT of Diet Dr Pepper is an acceptable substitute for the diet drink. I have not tried the Pepsi One with Splenda yet but I will. It is sweeter than the regular diet coke and lacks that bitter aftertaste that one expects with the Diet Coke...I wish Dr. Pepper would come out with one now too...Though I am not certain they could totally improve the Diet Dr Pepper flavor...I really like the flavor of the Dr Pepper already but didn't the Coke so this was a welcome change. I bought it last night to try and when I can't get Dr. Pepper will buy this instead...DH even tasted it and declared it an improvement though was not willing to give up his regular pop in exchange for that diet version...he thought it was drinkable and he will not even drink/taste any of the other diet versions...If I were to give it a grade...A-...almost too sweet but otherwise it tastes a LOT like regular Coke though it has been a year and a half since I had a regular Coke.

Thanks for the review, Lori. I remember when I first started LCing, I frantically searched for soda to replace my Diet Coke. But slowly gave soda up completely. I think I am sensitive to the Citric Acid found in most sodas. But I'll buy some of this and use it as a treat, and to have on hand for guests who are die-hard coke drinkers.

I read an article on Mercola.com about diet Coke switching to Splenda, with Pepsi and 7-up to follow. Apparently one of the reasons is that the patents will soon be up on Splenda so there will be generic versions which will of course be much cheaper.

I hope diet Dr. Pepper switches over also! My husband is a total addict of the regular version. He tried the diet a while back but hated it. It would be much better with splenda and maybe he could cut out about half-a-pound of sugar a day!

See I hate the taste of regular coke, too syrupy, same with regular pepsi. So I would rather they taste more diet. Which is one reason I wasn't sure if I would like splenda diet coke because it was suppose to be more like regular. But I will try it when I see it at the store now and see.

Picked this up tonight at Super WalMart....and I found it to taste similar to regular coke but NOT quite as sweet. Hubby LOVES it because it doesn't have the aftertaste of aspertame.

Can't wait for it to come out in cans WalMart had 20 oz. bottles for only fifty cents!

Tried it and loved it. But can't find much room for a soda, trying to get in enough water and green tea! My best friend said she tried it, hated it...."it had a sharp flavor and I could taste it for 2 hours after I drank it". Whatever! She may be my best bud, but she's weird!

I bought a diet Pepsi w/Lime Mother's Day on the way to m-i-l's house. It was okay. When Pepsi gets their Splenda drinks out there, I'll be thrilled.

Aside from that: I work in the vending/coffee industry. Trust me: there is only one thing as much or MORE addictive than coffee: Dr.Pepper. I absolutley HATE the stuff. I will gag at the mere smell of it. BUT, I am very much in the minority here in Texas. I sell more of that than Coke or Diet Coke. That is something I cannot fathom. I would rather drink plain water than drink a Dr.Pepper, diet or not.

People that need to drink diet drinks are fairly demanding about the supply, but the Dr.Pepper people can get absolutley violent. I believe there is something addictive in it, as Staci was saying about her husband. People FREAK OUT when the DP runs out. I just shake my head in wonder.

I do like Pepsi products more than Coke products. The Coke seems to be more bubbly and cinnamony. But, I'm not so picky I won't drink a diet Coke if that's all the restaurant serves. I've known people who like one or the other and WILL NOT drink the other one. They are basically interchangable to me.

Like Orange soda:the big debate is that Sunkist is best, Minute Maid is not as good, etc. Whatever! As long as it's not Dr.Pepper, I'm fine! LOL!

Anyway, I'm glad to see Splenda going into more and more products. I try to stay away from the aspartame as much as possible.

I used to single-handedly support Coke with all the Diet Coke I drank and could not stand Diet Pepsi. Shortly after starting this WOE, I found a Splenda sweetened diet cola at Dollar General that I really liked. It was a little sweeter than Diet Coke but not as sweet as Diet Pepsi. I have now tried both Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi sweetened with Splenda. The Diet Pepsi is acceptable. However, the Diet Coke is an abomination. It is very sweet and reminds me of the taste of off-brand diet colas that I tried a lot of years ago before sticking with Diet Coke. At $.50 for a 2 liter bottle and $2.00 for a 12 pack, I will stay with Clover Valley from Dollar General.

I am finding that I actually prefer it to some of the other drinks available right now...but my favorite is still Deit Dr. Pepper. I am going to try to get off the Dr. Pepper this summer at least somewhat...that is stillt he one habit I have NOT dropped in the last 17 months.

Star Wars...wasn't that a disappointment all alone? Storyline was wayyyyy too thin.

I had to get a Diet Coke though...it was an improvement for me as usually I get something to eat during a movie and I am learning not to do that anymore, not even the low carb ones that bring my weight loss to a screeching halt.

Congrats on sticking to the water. I hope I can be that disciplined one day soon!

Star Wars storyline too thin? Yea right. Whatever. Almost 30 years of a successful storyline and over 20 billion dollors made on the franchise. Star Wars a disappointment???? Yeah, you know what your talking about. Enough said.

Bought Diet Coke w/Splenda and tried it today. I actually like it a lot, and DS1 says he will drink it this summer while home from college to cut down on calories. I found it to have a very similar taste and "bite" found in regular Coke. While I'm not a big soda drinker, I do love my coffee, tea and water.

Another hit around our house is Diet Cherry-Vanilla Dr. Pepper. The guys really like that stuff.

House, my DS told me about Clover Valley cola, she really likes it.

I have seen all of them. This one was a stinker, especially compared with the others.

To each his own, but please leave out the derragatory comments.
