| Hi I have been on induction till this week and I am adding vegetables as reccomended for the extra 5 carbs and I was wondering about the low carb peanut butter is it ok to have if I feel a binge coming on as it is something different and I figured its in the nut category????? I am just having a rough time of this as I detest vegetables and everything starts to get boring. I lost 13 lbs and its been about 4 weeks I just left induction and seem to have lost another lb. I cant stay off the scale Im trying but not very successful I get on there a couple times a day. I need to measure yet however I can tell by my face and clothes that Ive lost to even if the scale says Im up I hang in there. Heres my menu Breakfast: 3 scrambled eggs 1.8 1 cheese stick 1 water 32 oz lunch tuna water 32 oz lettuce 2 cups 1 carb sald dressing snack piece of cheese supper: 32 oz water salmon or chicken breast with seasoning salt 1cup cauliflower dessert sf jello with cream cheese 1carb piece cheese and my seriously bad habit of about 4 diet cokes Any suggestions would be very helpful. Im hanging in there. I want this so bad I even asked my self is it worth a cupcake to give it all up and I talked myself out of it but then slipped and had half a cup cake but I forgave myself and got right back on track. Thank you all for your help. Debra |

| Wow, Debra. You are doing a GREAT job! I'm going to leave it to the gurus to answer your peanut butter question, but I just wanted to let you know that YOU ROCK!

| Debra - This is a totally personal perspective - but get rid of the Diet Cokes. I could copy and paste half a dozen things in here about why - but the long and short of it is that they provide no nutritional value to your food. I've read of people having cravings because of them, and a variety of other reasons. One of my best friends is addicted to them. Anything that has that caramel coloring is suspect. I drink a cup of coffee (actually more like 2 in my coffee mug) in the morning, and nothing else but water the rest of the day. Peanut Butter isn't evil (once again, this is all 'IMHO'), and I'll have a peanut butter spoon (scoop out peanut butter on spoon, and insta-snack) as a treat. Maybe once a week? I'd suggest taking your measurements, toss out the scale for a week or two (ask hubby to hide it, or your kid to hide it, or give it to a neighbor) and stick with the plan. At the end of that 2 weeks - measure yourself, and step on the scale. Sometimes even when we are doing wonderfully, that scale not moving sends us looking for 'comfort' food, even though we know that'll send the scale in the opposite direction we are wanting it to go. Good luck, and let us know how it's going. Dee |

| The seriously bad diet cookies should probably be cut back to an occassional thing but your diet looks good. During OWL I ate peanut butter as a "treat" I was very careful about portions though and would pre-measure it before eating with celery a few times a week. I am back in induction now so I do not eat it anymore but look forward to it eventually. I also would do the measuring thing. I had to take my scale out of my house for a time becuase I was becoming obsessive. You've done well so far, stick with it and good things will happen for you.

| I don't see anthing wrong with your menu except the diet cokes and that's may not be a problem for you as it can be for some. As long as the Pb has no added sugar and trans fats you can have it but as others point out be aware of portion size. There's over 3000 calories in a pint of PB. Congratulations on your weight loss! |

| Debra, I was/am a scale fanatic, too. But I do it more as an investigational "tool" and don't get hung up on the numbers. The best time to weigh if you do it every day, is first thing in the AM. At any other time during the day/evening, you WILL weigh more. So the only number I use is the AM one. I also found that the AM TIME I weigh makes a difference too. If I get up an hour later than usual, I may weigh half a pound less. If I get up an hour earlier, I'll weigh half a pound more. Go figure. I'm thinking the body needs about 8 hours of rest to get back to square one. Dee's advice aout measurements is right on! You WILL lose inches even when the scale will not budge. I got completely off of Diet Coke. I notice there is a Splenda version now. That may be better, but absolute best thing is to try to wean yourself off of coke and all diet drinks. Keep them as a treat. Have you tried green tea? Iced with some splenda? Not only does it have wonderful antioxidant properties, many believe it helps with weight loss, too. My favorite snack attack food is some cottage cheese with a little cinnamon and splenda mixed in. Note: some people find too much cheese (more than 3 ounces) may stall them. Your menu looks good, your results are fantastic! Keep the faith! Always remember you are changing your old bad eating habits to new healthy ones. This takes time!

| thank you for your advise I am using the peanut butter which is low carb 3grams as a treat once a week. I tried low carb tortillas yesterday they were wheat and 5 grams and almost too small to fit anything in Ha Ha Ha. I was still happy to have them. I have ate olives which I hate and mushrooms lately as well it seems my taste buds are changing either that or Im just so hungry for something different I guess as long as it works. The diet cokes I have cut down on and tried to completely cut but havent had much luck so eventually hopefully I can cut them out. I try to make it so I can only drink one after I have had my water. Thank you all for your advise. I will be on here more im sure. Debra |

| Yes, your tastes will change - probably a lot as time goes by. If you find you are eating the same thing every day, you do risk getting bored with the food and going off LC. Fortunately, it doesn't have to be that way. One of the joys of this way of eating is discovering new foods and new ways to enjoy familiar foods. There are only about a million good LC recipes available now days. I like Dana Carpenter's cookbook. I just got George Stella's cookbook recently - the few things I've made from it have been great. Be sure to check out the Recipes link here on LCE. Also, there's great stuff in the Articles section - Low Carb Cooking: Recipes and Tips. Marcie Rathburn's creamed cauliflower (aka cauli mash) is to die for!

| Hope you can get past detesting veggies. Here's something to try: smear that peanut butter on celery. It makes a really CRUNCHY snack, and adds valuable fiber to your menu. Best wishes. |
