| Today we had one of those big retirement celebrations at my workplace. Not mine yet, I regret to say--but similar generation. Anyway, the party brought in a lot of people who used to work here, and others I seldom see. And guess what? I racked up a LOT of those "Wow--you look great!" and "How did you get so skinny??" reactions. I ate up the compliments, which helped me NOT eat up the cake and brownies. Luckily, there were plenty of veggies, cheeses, and strawberries, too. Never was the saying more real: Nothing tastes as good as thin feels. Sometimes it takes a little drama to remind me that the lifestyle of maintenance is no less demanding (perhaps even more so!) than the discipline of losing. As I've said before, losing is a learning process as much as anything. And every time I declare myself "a low-carb eater" I'm reinforcing not a "diet" (like all those loser diets before!) but a commitment to my health and happiness for years to come. It was fun looking my best today. I'll remember that tomorrow. |

| ... and for many days to come, I'll bet. I'll add to your "nothing tastes as good as thin feels." Having had an occasional nibble of some previous food choice (from time to time over the years) I can say that "nuthin' tastes quite as good as you remember it tasting" either.

| Congratulations Barb............... what a nice thing to happen. Soak it up and store it away for a day when you need to remember why sneaking a brownie is not a good idea. |
