The Atkins name was sold, and many , many products are on the market , that were never approved by Dr. Atkins himself.

Yes, there are bars, muffins, cereal...... but all I am saying is that these products stall most people, and it is better to eat well balanced meals including vegetables, at least until you get to your goal.

Everyone has free will to make their own choices....... if you want to eat bread... please do so.

There, there. Finding our way in low-carb is all about making informed choices. Obviously, each of us has a different experience, history, and choice when it comes to bread and bread products.

I think it's a vast generalization to say "these products stall most people." There are many low-carb plans besides Atkins that include and encourage the consumption of whole grains. And even Atkins does, in the later phases.

So, as always, YMMV.

P. S. Mona, what is your description of "well-balanced"? It might be interesting to see what daily menus are working well for you.

I am one of the fairly new people to this kind of woe, and I've been eating the lc bread since I started staying on track. See, my whole life all I at was bread. I didn't eat meat other than chicken nuggets or fried catfish, or veggies, or even fruit. I lived on bread 1 loaf lasted about 5-6 days. All my favorite foods are bread, that happens after 20 years. I tried to do the strict induction diet, but the cravings for bread were too much and I couldn't stay on track. I can't cut out all the foods I've eaten for foods completely foreign to me. So I supplement my diet with lc bread and its helped me to stay on track. I don't eat it very often, a loaf will last 2 1/2-3 weeks between me and my roommate. But it holds off the cravings for what I've known. I've abstained from most all the breads I used to eat for lc friendlier products, and now I eat veggies and other kinds of meat besides chicken. Its a weaning process but I don't think I'll ever be able to give it up completely. But its presence hasn't stalled me, or thrown me into binges. I honestly think being aware of what my body needs and compromising with it a bit is helping me to keep losing and staying on plan. But that's just me and my body. Its already been said here that it harms others, and hey, I get that. If the bread doesn't work for you, I think its awesome you can stay away from it. That's why we're all different, and you never know until you try.

bkloots said it best. Its all a matter of individual attitudes and results. Cheers.

Just another two cents from me. The Atkins book itself has "frankenfoods". Which is why I say he would approve. Of course they have tested and have been found that their impact carbs are indeed what they say they are. So the research has shown...if you trust it

Packaged low-carb bread, low-carb bars, low-carb cereals, etc., are not apart of my day-to-day menu. (I reserve baking low-carb sweets for every weekend, as I see eating low-carb treats as a special occasion.) Since I still crave sandwiches, I just use large Romaine lettuce leaves and fill them up with cheddar cheese slices, tomato slices, turkey roasted at home, and plenty of mayo. I discovered a few years ago that it was the "innards" I was missing!
