Unhappy struggling

Hi I am not having a good weekend I keep munching on stuff I know I shouldnt then I think well maybe tommorow I know I need to stop right now or it will be way out of control. I am craving sweets really bad and I was thinking I need to go back to induction to put my body back where it needs to be I wasnt having cravings but once I started they just keep coming. Please tell me Im normal and others went through this It seems like I am trying to sabotage my progress. I m sure its just a matter of changing bad habits but I could use some encouraging words and maybe some hints on what to eat if I crave sweets.

Thanks again for all your time, patience and thoughtful words of help.
Debra

Debra....it could be hormonal, or it could be you ate something that triggered the cravings. Think back to when the cravings started....what was happening? Where were you? What were you eating/drinking? You may have to play detective for a little while. In the meantime, STOP eating the junk, drink some extra water, and know that "you are never more than a meal away from being back on plan". I stole that smart quote from some wise person here.

If you want to do a couple of days of Induction to rid yourself of any weight gain and cravings, that's fine. Just don't quit. Hang in there...we've all been through this. I still go through it every now and then...I just am able to figure out the triggers pretty quickly now. HTH

Hey, Debra.

Take a deep breath and keep in mind that we've all been there to one extent or another. You're only one choice away from being back on plan. Going off plan creates blood sugar instability and the carb cravings that go with it.

Many people have found that going back to induction for a few days is very helpful at restoring your ketosis - and quashing the cravings. A trick to use, during this period, is using chicken legs or harboiled eggs (or something else from the protein/fat category) whenever you have a craving. This is very helpful at helping you distinguish between real hunger and cravings. If you think you want a milky way, offer yourself a hardboiled egg. If you don't want it, guess what, you're not really hungry.

If you're really having a "sweet jones", allow yourself ONE induction friendly sweet treat a day - a true LC treat that you make for yourself, like a couple of TB of sour cream (or cream cheese) with a teaspoon of cocoa and some splenda, or the sugar free jello in the recipe database.

This way of eating is all about getting an education about yourself and your metabolism.

HTH some!

I feel better already you guys are all so great it helps soooo much before recent I would have said forget it and been binging still. (Instead of all weekend) I am doing good so far today and increasing the water The hard boiled egg might just work one of the things where you open the fridge look ponder for 5 minutes then realize your not even hungry shut it and walk away. I feel better when Im not eating the junk never noticed that before when I was dieting. This is definately much better I was so glad the cravings had stopped and Ill think twice before going that path again cause once you go that way it seemed hard to get back on track.
Anyways I tend to ramble thank you for all your helpful words once again!!!!!
