Default Heavier Start Weight than I Thought!

Hello all! I just wanted to share something with everyone!

I went to the doc today for a check-up and found out some interesting news. When I got on the scale, I proudly announced to the nurse that I had lost some weight. I asked her what my weight was the last time I was in and she told me I was 240! I honestly did not know I had gotten to that weight! I thought my biggest was 236! So I got over the surprise and then did a little jig, because now my accomplishment thus far is even bigger!

I am sorry to say though that my blood pressure is still too high. The doc was hopeful that it would go down after some weight loss, but it seems my family history is just too much. I will keep at the weight loss though, and who knows, maybe it will drop on its own after all!! Until then, I will take the meds and keep on plan.

Have a great weekend!

sounds like a plan heather!

i had a SHOCK when I asked my doc what the highest I weighed was(after i had lost a bunch i felt safe in asking *L*) but i now ONLY check my weight at the DOCTORS office... so it stays relatively the same scale..

except for once on a VETS scale *L* and once or twice at my sons house... i dont OWN a scale...

sorry the BP isnt down enough... but i bet they were jacked about your weight eh? ;-)

Wow, what a cool thing to find out! You did better than you thought you did!

When I went in March to the gyno (hadn't been in 2 years) I was down (only) 19 pounds and was getting ready to be embarrassed by that when he came in the room.....but he was all happy and pleased about it. (???)

Why was he happy I'd only lost 19 pounds since he saw me last? Doc: "You're not looking at this like a doctor." (I'm NOT a doctor!) He said women my age (41) that have a weight problem "generally" gain 5-10 pounds per year. He said it would've not been a huge surprise if I had been UP 10-20 pounds, but instead I was down 19.

He said that is like actually losing 40 pounds by NOT gaining the expected pounds and losing some more on top of it. Okay! Sounds good to me. So, I left there feeling alot better about my 19 pound loss than I did before.

I'm sure your continued loss and exercise will help to lower your blood pressure further. Maybe then you can just be on something very mild. Keep up the good work!

I went through the same thing. I thought my highest weight was 235-240, but when I asked for my old medical records, it said that I had been 253 or so. That was probably with heavy clothes and shoes though.

Congrats on your weight loss!

The biggest thing is how you look and feel though, not the number. I know going down feels oh so much better then going up, but you're still passing through the same numbers

Wow Maxibee - I want your doctor! I recently checked out a personal trainer, and told him that I'd lost 48 pounds and was at a point where I needed to start incorporating weight training/etc. He didn't ask how I lost it, just told me that he'd be happy to train me, told me what I'd eat (protien shakes, grilled chicken (no steak), steamed veggies (no butter)) for 3 months, and he could get me where I wanted to go. No question about 'how' I'd lost 48 pounds since January... Hello...McFly??? Needless to say, he's NOT going to be my new personal trainer.
