Default Back to Induction

One of the things I most appreciate about Atkins is this: it gives me a way back to my "new normal" way of eating.

After more than two years of practice, I know what low-carb means to my continuing well-being. I know what I like to eat, and what I don't eat anymore. I just know what to do. Even if I don't always do it.

During the past few weeks of family gatherings and travel (my mom died unexpectedly), I've relaxed the low-carb restrictions for convenience. I must say I enjoyed some good breads, and more than one serving of ice cream.

However, now that I'm back in my "real life," there's no question about returning to my low-carb routine. It simply feels better--and feels right for me. Induction is a rewarding clean-up, and I'll be myself again in no time.

Maintenance means using common sense, along with knowledge. Thanks to Atkins, I believe I can keep on track for a long time to come, in spite of the bumps in the road.

Barb, sorry to hear about your mom.... in those times, food is the least of your worries....
I know what you mean about it being easier while traveling, family gatherings, etc. al.... you really have to do a bit of prep work if you are going to stay on track....I went to a 'family"campout this weekend,... knew what kind of food would be there so we brought a big roast for saturday, some eggs to make deviled eggs out of, salad fixings, fruit, and I made me my cookies so when the cake and icecream came out, I wouldn'tfeel like I had to eat that... and made it.... yahoo...
back to you... induction does get you back into control pretty fast....
take care, you will be on track in no time....

That's the way to go, IMHO... as the French Women Don't Get Fat lady says, the indulgence should precede the compensation. And having the knowledge to make that compensation is 9/10ths of the battle.

Thanks for your encouragement, Kelly. I'm a natural optimist, and the ability to practice encouraging self-talk is one of my mom's best legacies.

When I check in here, I'm just sharing the messages I give myself from one day to the next. It's great to have a group!

BKLoots - sorry to hear about your mom. I'm restarting induction - this is the 3rd day, and I've got the headaches.... glad that'll be over the next day or so...

Thanks to everyone for supportive thoughts.

Friends invited us out to eat last night, and I'm thinking uh-oh! Bless their hearts, they picked a steak house. Prime rib I can eat.

Just curiosity, I checked the ketostix yesterday, not expecting much--and behold, I'm purple already, only three days into induction. I haven't been purple in quite a while, doing maintenance. Funny how encouraging those little stix can be when relaunching the program.
