    Default Make my own shake?

Okay - I'm working out....I'm eating healthy...but I need a protien shake to drink after my work outs...or just when I want something cold/slushy/healthy.

I don't like soy....and don't like aspertame....Splenda rocks...and I'm willing to try/experiment to get one that I like...but if anyone out there is making something that is low carb and delicious by way of a 'make it yourself' protien, I'd appreciate the info! ;-)

I make my own protein shake, but I use SPI(soy protein isolate). I can't really detect the soy taste that much of the spi.
    Here's what I do:
    1/2 C. carb countdown milk
    1 scoop SPI
    1 T. unsweetened cocoa
big splash of sf DV choc syrup and a dash of steviaPlus
spin this in the blender, then add a cup of crushed ice, blenderize til smooth.
Makes a big, thick, rich shake that is really filling and tasty...to me anyway

Are you against the ready-made powders? If not, here's my "recipe":

This is for a double batch:
2 cups Carb Countdown milk (reg. or choc.)
4 scoops protien powder (I use CarbSolutions)
a teaspoon of cocoa if you want more chocolate flavor
2 teaspoons psyllium husk powder (you can skip this....I just like to add fiber to EVERYTHING I can!)
    10 ice cubes
Note: a splash of heavy cream thickens the shake as well as making it creamier.

Turn the blender on with the milk in it......this keeps the protien powder from clumping when you dump it in. For some reason, this GROWS in the blender. Add the ice cubes last. I drink half of it and save the other half for the next day. When chilled it turns into "pudding". But I think this is from the heavy cream and the fiber powder.

I used to drink Silk Unsweetened Organic Soymilk.....LOVED it....until I started reading alot of stuff about soy causing the thyroid to become sluggish. That's all I need!

I make a shake/smoothie using kefir (I make my own, but you can buy unsweetened/unflavored kefir at your local healthfood store -- refrigerated section).

    I use:
    1 cup kefir "milk"
    1/2 cup strawberries
    1/2 cup (or more) ice
1-2 tablespoons organic, unsweetened coconut cream (I buy from Tropical Traditions online)
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder

    YUM!
