| Hi I,m back again. I was successful at losing 70lbs on this woe. It's been almost a year since I quit lowcarbing and I am very frustrated that I messed up again when it comes to my eating habits. Although I quit a year ago I was able to maintain for several months but since early spring I have been binging on anything I wanted to eat and unfortunately am reaping the results. I am very lucky because I only gained back 20lbs and the only reason I didn't gain more is because of my job. I do housecleaning and your always moving around. All my life I have had trouble with food, not being able to control my binges. I have been through eating disorders and when I was younger turned to drugs to keep me thin. Two weeks ago I found myself throwing up my food. I came to my senses and realized that I am a grandmother now and need to stay healthy if I want to be around for the little ones. I decided to come back to the low carb way of life. It worked for me once and I know it can work again. I am day 9 on induction and am really starting to feel a difference. My skin is clearer, I am sleeping better and seem to have more energy. I have also lost 7lbs so far. I know this this time around I have to things differently if I want to get a grip on my eating habits and my sanity. I love this forum and you have been a great help to me in the past so I am back for some support. Its great to see alot of the same faces since I have logged on almost a year ago. I am looking foward on traveling this journey with all of you Hugs Nancy |

| Hugs back, Nancy. Glad to see you back here. As we all know, sometimes it takes a time or two before we get it right. Sometimes we just need to be reminded how lousy we felt before LC to make us really appreciate how good we feel on plan. I have been facing these same issues, and I can tell you, I feel SO much better in so many ways when I stay on my WOE. We are looking forward to traveling this journey with you, too. Post often and let us know how you're doing, OK? We're all in this together, ya know. Welcome back!

| Nancy, Glad you're back and feeling better! Don't be so hard on yourself about "never learn;" I don't think I know anyone who started lc, ran with it, and never had a detour along the way. We've all done it, so don't worry and keep up the good work Much love, Fluffy |

| Nancy, you are so totally reading my mind. I know exactly how you feel, except you have made it to induction and I'm just restarting again. You have a great attitude, and welcome back! Kelly

| Nancy, welcome back!!!!! It's nice to "see" returning faces around here. You know we are always going to be here for you. Hang in there. When you are feeling like you are going to fall back to your old ways, instead of giving in, come here, let us know about it and we'll prop you back up. And when you need new food ideas, get to the recipe section or the cooking forum and look for new ideas. When I read a new recipe that sounds good to me, it always inspires me to try it out, gets me excited and renews my commitment to this WOE. It's all about the right tools my friend. We can't succeed unless we have the right tools.

| Thanks everyone for your supportive replys. I sure makes everything a lot easier when you have a support group like this. I really am feeling much better since I started induction and my appetite has went way down compared to what is was like. I know now that I don't eat like a normal person does because I tend to gorge myself and eat constantly. My biggest obstacle is sugar, I can't seem to get enough of it, If have one cookie I need to eat the whole bag. It's like an alcoholic who takes the first drink, they can never stop at one. My cravings for sugar have settled down alot and when I get overwhelmed with a craving, a piece of sugarless gum seems to help. I started exercising a bit today. I went for a long walk with my pooch and both of us feel great. After the holidays when money is a bit better I plan to join a gym. I find working out with other people tends be more fun then trying to do it yourself. I hope you all have a great day Hugs Nancy |

| Hi, Nancy. Exercise is a good idea. A convenient alternative to joining a gym, but not working out "alone," is home video exercise. You can usually find quite a variety of video workouts at the public library. I've enjoyed my "video coaches" and workout companions for years. Best wishes. Barbara |

| Hi Nancy I just wanted to thank you for posting and for returning. I am a newbie (I love that, makes me sound young, can I be a newbie forever?). I think your experience is one for all of us to learn from and while you are receiving all the hugs and support here, you're also providing that for others. For example, I havent' been exercising as I have a severe allergy to such things, and, well, but, while reading Barb's post I remembered that once upon a time I really enjoyed video workouts...so I looked up my local tv listings and there's quite a few tv workout programs I can tape and so I think I'll give that a go. You've helped me with only your first return-to-posting! Awesome! It has been dawning on me in my 6 weeks or so of lc'ing that I don't think I can eat like a 'normal' person either. I was in the recipe section and found this "Mock Danish" that many seem to love so I'm going to try that soon, well as soon as I can drag my butt to the grocery store - my laziness knows no bounds - Thanks for your post and I look forward to learning more from you, Congrats out to Kelly too, keep it goin girl! Well, we're on our way out to go buy a large tv we probably can't afford so I obviously gotta go, (strangely, got a happy teenager all-of-a-sudden) Smiles, Candace |

| Candace, I LOVE to fall back on the mock danish. When I get stuck on a breakfast idea, I can always make that, and enjoy it, cuz I love it. So, I ALWAYS have the ingredients on hand. I buy the six pack of cream cheese from Sam's club or a bunch from Aldi's. And when I am down to one brick, I buy more. And I always have eggs on hand too. ALWAYS!!!! That stuff is my lifeline!!!!

| Heh Barb, that's awesome, I'm going to try the danish for sure now, unfortunately, still have not made it to the groc store, well it's been raining. I'm happy you responded because you mentioned brick of cream cheese, does that mean not the soft Philadelphia kind? Forgive me if that's a dumb question, cooking and all that, not my strong suit. Smiles, Candace |

| Hey, no question is dumb!!!! I use the bricks because they are "pure" cream cheese and the foil wrapping has ounce markings on them. The mock danish recipe calls for 3 oz. So if you line your knife up with where the markings are you know how much you are using. I don't use the tubbed or whipped cream cheeses. Theyre harder to measure out. I find that I like Philly brand the best because when you nuke it about 30-40 secs in the mic, it gets really creamy. The off brands don't get smooth like Philly does. But lately I haven't been going to Sam's since our new Aldi opened, so I'm saving gas by shopping there instead of going a couple towns away to Sam's. I just put up with the chunkiness of Aldi's brand, which does eventually smooth out with a lot of whisking. I turn my mock danish into cake sometimes by adding a couple of TBS. of Atkins Bake Mix to the cream cheese and egg mixture. I also add the following:1 tsp. non-sugar vanilla or 2 TBS. Vanilla s/f syrup (Torani from Cost Plus World Market) a couple TBS. of protein powder (My fave is Designer Whey-Vanilla) and sometimes a couple TBS. of milk and egg protein powder (found at health food stores or Trader Joe's), a pinch of sea salt, sweetener to taste and lastly, a tsp. of baking POWDER. Mix it all up and cook in the mic for at least 2:30 minutes, in a deep dish. Check the center to see if it's done, if not, cook at 30 sec intervals until set. I have even doubled this recipe and cooked it in my 5X8 baking dish and made a dessert out of it. I will whip real whipping cream until it's fairly stiff, add a couple packets of splenda and mix in, spread that all over the COOLED cake and then top it off with fresh, sliced strawberries. You can make a strawberry juice by pulverizing some strawberries and adding a bit of splenda to it and pour it over the cake. YUM!!!!!!! Tastes like strawberry short cake. I have an official recipe posted in the recipe data base up at the top of the page.

| Here's a link to the recipe, which is a little different than what I posted here. But either recipe will do, they are both good.Strawberry Shortcake It sounds complicated, but once you've made Mock Danish a few times, It's actually quite easy.

| Heh Barb, you're not going to believe this, but I tried the mock danish and think I screwed it up cause mine didn't taste good. I did buy two 'bricks' of Philly (I agree) so I'll try again...hopefully before teenager-of-house garbles it all up. Thank you for posting the shortcake, sounds yummy...er...am I too old to ask my Mom to make it for me? Smiles, Candace ps. Heh Nancy??? How's it going??? |

| I can't get the Mock Danish to come out to taste as good as everyone says. I'm not sure what consistency.. do you beat up the egg and cream cheese till its smooth?? or leave it lumpy?? Maybe Barb can tell us what to do |
