| Hello everyone!.. I'm back..! Its been awhile but i thought i would let everyone know whats been going on. I've been on again and off again the LC way for some time now. I'm quite dissapointed in myself too. In June i got married to a wonderful man and i was soo happy with the way i looked and the way i felt. Since then things have gone down with my body... I'm trying to finish up nursing school (will graduate in MAY!!!) but the stress has been very draining. Since the start back at school in August i have put on about 15-20 lbs. I can't fit into my clothes and i feel awful. I tried about 3 weeks ago to start back on the LC way but i felt very crabby. I could really use some support and advise on how to avoid the crabbiness. My poor husband doesn't deserve it. I could also use some ideas for lunch foods that i can take with me to school for lunch. Please help support me through this journey, because i have a lot of people trying to stop me from the LC way. My brother in law's girlfriend is a nutritionist and she keeps drilling me about how awful this is... I just need a lot of support right now.. |

| Hey Kat! Welcome back. Feel free to give your brother in law's girlfriend this website...lots of proof in the pudding on the effectiveness of it. Lunch is one of those neat things...you have to plan for it. Some things that I do for lunch: Salad - lettuce/cucumber/tomato/cheese in a tupperware container with a small container of ranch dressing. Cheese and Meat - always a favorite. Can either purchase it all sliced or do it yourself. Throw in some celery (cream cheese inside is good) or other crunch veggie and youa re good Tuna/chicken salad wraps (use lettuce to wrap them up in) If you have access to a microwave - the possibilities are even better! | Welcome back. ![]() Congrats on the nursing school. I will be going back next fall. As stated in an article I read through a link here most "professionals" are against low carb not for scientific reasons but because of long held beliefs that are not supported by research. My advice, ignore her. Tell her this is your choice and you'd like her to support it but she is entitled to her own opinion. My cardiologist uncle and his friends at a recent party didn't poo-poo Atkins when I said it was how I had lost the first 101 pounds and I am confident they would have as they are very strongly opinionated about so many things. When you are through with induction and well on your way I love the low carb wraps with lc tortillas. Before you move onto them you can make them with lettuce. I keep a lot of hard boiled eggs here at the office, which are a nice for a snack or lunch with some celery/carrot sticks. Since I have a fridge here I bring a lot of leftovers and salads so they are not the same types of things you would take with you to school. But I'm sure others will have more suggestions.

| Kat, glad you're back! Everything will be OK. Just be persistent, and your results will speak for themselves. I'm with Cushie, forget the girlfriend. Or - have her read "Nutrition and Physical Degeneration" by Weston A. Price. Or the work done by Dr. Diana Swarzbein (sp?) That should keep her quiet for a while. How are your eating habits her business anyway? I would definitely avoid the subject with her. OK, now for crabbiness. My "chocolate cure," to increase seratonin levels, works miracles for me. Try this: melt a square of unsweetened baking chocolate with a fat tablespoon of coconut oil or butter, and some stevia (or whatever sweetener you use.) Stir in 2 T heavy cream 'til thickened. Sometimes I add a bit more cream on top, too. EAT! After an hour I feel better, after two, I'm back to normal. Chocolate as a drug, with safe, healthy, amazing results. Hang in there! HTH, Fluffy |

| kat-don't be disappointed in yourself-that's fattening! as far as avoiding the induction grumpies, try easing into lc by tapering off of sugar over the period of about a week. that helped me the second time in completely avoid that "withdrawl flu" that you get in induction sometimes. as far as the nutritionist chick, you might want to stop calling it "low carb" or "atkins" for a while, and just tell her you're giving up sugar and white flour and eating just natural foods. there are so many misconceptions out there by even professionals about what low carb is, it's ridiculous. if they see what we usually eat, they would shut right up! good luck with school and beyond. |
