It has been my experience that it is best to find a real copy of the book. The website has some various lienencies(sp) put in it. Seems like that was an attempt to be competetive in the low carb market. For me those variations have caused problems. Staying with the original discipline works best. Good luck on your journey.

Yes, as Tom notes, the Atkins Nutritionals website really pushed the Atkins products. Yet, those very products can stall weight loss, as many of us have found out. The LC bars are notorious for blowing weight loss. There is quite a range of variation in how much those products adversely affect weight loss, but I'm betting only a few can tolerate very much. You will likely do so much better at curbing cravings and losing weight if you stick with the induction-legal foods in the book.

I know that many people consider themselves "breadaholics." I've never been one--but still, it's remarkable how normally life goes on without bread. I've learned many new ways of eating while on Atkins--and I think that's the whole point. NOT reproducing the way I used to eat with substitutes, but trying new things.

Atkins doesn't even make bread anymore. They used to have bread at 3 net grams per slice, and bagels and pita that were very good. However, since the bankruptcy and restructuring, they are focusing on their bars, shakes, drinks, etc. I still buy the bars at WalMart, but they are only for when I don't have time for breakfast. I do like their Morning Start beverages, especially the apple. It is very good hot with a cinnamon stick. I just use a half teaspoon for a mug of hot water. It's a good alternative to tea or coffee. It would be a good hot drink for guests, like after a sledding party (like we have sledding parties in central Texas!!!), or for any get-together where a hot drink would be good.

I can still find the Atkins cereals at WalMart, too. I like them from time to time, but not everyday.

My personal opinion is that the Atkins corporation (which has owned the rights for a while now) does not stick true to the doctor's vision. When they were saying that you could have bread and bars and shakes I believe it was so they could sell them to you.

I am a bread-a-holic. Once I started I cannot stop until all the bread in the house is gone. For a time I could control it with certain low carb breads but it got the best of me so I don't buy them anymore.

So I also agree with Tom. Stick to the original plan for induction then later you could add the lc bread if you can handle that better than I
