Default Sugar Free Macaroons: Changing Aspartime to Splenda

Got this nice recipe at About.com
Sounds great, right?

Sugar Free Macaroons

Serving size: 9

Ingredients:

ground almonds 100 gm
Splenda 100 gm ( 3 1/4 oz) - the website listed Aspartime, NOT Splenda
1 pinch of cream of tartar
1/4 tsp vinegar
1/4 tsp almond essence
2 egg whites

Preparation:
Whisk half of artificial sweetner, all of cream of tartar, vinegar and egg whites together for at least 5 minutes until mixture forms peaks but is not dry. Mix in almonds and remaining artificial sweetner and almond essence and spoon on to baking paper. Bake at 350 degree for 15 minutes.

2 gm of carb per serving

How this recipe could be only 2 carbs per serving?
P.S. Of coarse, the "original" recipe was written with aspartime, and Splenda is totally different. So, it would not be right to apply Aspartime's carb count with Splenda recipe, is this CORRECT?

One pack of Splenda has 1 carb, so no way one serving could have 2 carbs from the total of 100 grams of Splenda.

Im not sure where they are getting the 9 servings and 2 carbs even with aspartame.

I plugged this into my mastercook program and converted the amounts to US equivalents.

I plugged in 48 cookies for the batch (my usual size) and it comes out still to 5 carbs per cookie with only a trace of fiber...

Rafaella, thanks for the recipe. Sounds good. I don't make lc cookies often as I am apt to eat way too many.

Bulk Splenda has 24 grams of carbs per cup. If you can figure out how to convert cups to grams, you'll know how many carbs are in your recipe. If you use packets of Splenda, if the original recipe called for aspertame, you can probably use the same # of packets. A packet of Splenda is less than 1 carb, but count 1 for each packet anyway.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, guys,
I am not doing any cookie or other sweets baking so far.... but very attempted.
I use jello, and it gives me some sweet calming effect. Nita, you are right, I will probably, overdue with cookies.... The good thing about the induction - it makes you want things without actually eating them - controlling your cravings....
Overall, the whole LCD is about your brain control over your food give - ins.
Thinking loudly...
