Default Need some help to figure out the right amnt of carb...

Please, help me to understand how to appreciate carbs in the product.
I have noticed that one have to subtruct the fiber, glycerin, and lacitol (what ever it is ) to get the right amnt of carbs. But, what is the meaning of 3 gm of carbs of total of 26 gm of carbs in product? I thought that what you see ( carbs ) is what you get?
    THANKS>

The general rule of thumb for net carbs is: number of carbs grams-number of fiber grams=number of net carb grams.
Some people subtract sugar alcohol grams as well, but in my experience, most do not. (Lacitol is a sugar alcohol, as is maltitol, isomalt, and a bunch of others.) They have been known to cause digestive problems in many people; it would be smart to learn to recognize their names on labels.
This is an individual thing, but I try to avoid sugar alcohols as much as possible. Not only will they cause unfortunate tummy troubles, but they tend to stall weight loss. Not worth it, to me.

Sounds like your dealing with some "low carb" candy or bars. They're very iffy products. They DO have a much bigger impact on BGL's than the manufacturer wants you to think. Most people stall with regular use of "low carb" bars or candy. In my own testing, glycerine, most sugar alcohols (erythritol is an exception) and other things like maltodextrin raise my BGL's very much like regular sugar.

To be on the safe side, don't subtract anything but fiber from manufactured food products. That gives you a real net carb count. You'll see that a lot of those "low carb" goodies aren't so low carb after all.

Not, really, I do not eat or get any low-carb sugar free snacks, except jello.
I have looked at some Atkins snacks at W.Mart, and waw! Each of the bar has at least 20 carbs or more... That is not good. I don't consider the product low carb if the each serving has 15 or more carbs.
The only thing that I really enjoy and eat now is sugar free jello and w.cream. The sugar free pudding taste like c. I did not like it. And, I was looking for Flax-omeal at W.Mart, but Could not find it. Where can I get it?

You may be able to locate things like Flax-omeal and other highfiber, low carb items at the local grocery store. I like to browse through the "health food" section, and sometimes in the isles where you find the high-carb stuff is where you may be able to find the "low-carb" version of the same thing.

    Best of luck to you.

Ok, I got flax meal at Whole foods today.
NOW... I saw someone's recipe on how to cook it in microwafe. Flax meal, water, sugar free liquier ( ?), vanilla dropps?
Please, help me out here if you know this recipe.
    Thanks bunch.

    Rafaella,
Go to the recipe section of this forum and you'll find Maggie's hot cereal recipe. Flax meal, soy protein isolate, and wheat bran. The proportions are in the recipe. It can be sweetened with Splenda, DaVinci's, or whatever you like. I like to use a little maple flavoring in mine.

There are a lot of recipes; just click on the "Cook" tab at the top of the page. You'll find a lot of things that will be of interest to you.
