Okay. I'll bite.

Go to a search engine, type in "acidic food" (with quotes), and you'll find your answer. It took less than one second for me to get over 30,500 hits.

What does the alleged acidity of food have to do with this way of eating? Just curious.

Maybe it's because we had no idea what you're asking, or why. Where did this question come from?

well, I am not exsactly sure, since you are pressuring me to remember , where did I see this posting.
I believe that someone on this (?) forum was having a hard time to loose weight on Atkins, and the suggested idea was to"cut down the acidic foods."
I promise, I did not make it up.
Raf.
P.S. I was just wondering if anyone was reading the same and knows the answers. I am sure I can go on net and find out more info on acidic food. I was , again, hoping to hear from members.
Thanks

Not trying to start an argument here, but you might try rewording your posts. Demanding that someone answer you, and saying you are pressured to remember are pretty off-putting. Maybe twenty-eight people didn't have an accurate reply for you. Many of us are learning at the same time. I look at many more posts each day than I respond to. Most of them, I'm just learning from. Occasionally, I have something to add. Just my thoughts.

Dear Rosie,
I am sorry if you got offended - no harm was ment - just was trying to get some knowledge and PLAY with you in my postings. I never thought I would offend anyone like this. To be honest, I saw some replies to postings that were much rudder than what you were offended about, and I did not say nothing.
It is YOUR preception, and I can assure you, I did not plan on this posting to be so "touchy."
I wish you trully the best in your journey,
Rafaella LOL

Hey, Raf. The internet's a big place. If 28 people clicked on your post, that means they were interested in the question. And that was 28 people, like you, who didn't know the answer. Patience.

That suggestion was from this post, in response to the question in this thread.

Raf, it would have been better for you to have posted your question concerning acidic foods in THAT thread, rather than have started a new thread. I see that you DID make a post in that thread. You should have continued to talk about it in THAT thread. When you started this new thread, no one knew what the heck you were talking about. I found the original comment by JackHu by using the SEARCH capacity on this site. When you have a question about something someone has said, it's common sense to post your comment/question within the same thread. That way, no one is confused.

Now, as for what that JackHu person said, be careful whom you glean advice from. He also told someone that chicken was hindering their weightloss, not to eat eggs fried, and that he uses shakes to replace two of his meals each day.

Given those facts, would you really take his advice to cut down on acidic foods? In the books you've gotten, does it say anything about cutting down on acidic foods?

Trust the information you glean from your books. If you take weight-loss advice from members here, it would probably be a good idea to research their profile and find out what plan they are following, and if it's working for them. If you find that the plan they follow isn't healthy, then don't take weight-loss advice from them.

My two cents...

PS: I have half a mind to close this thread and let you re-post your original question in the correct thread, where the original comment about acidic foods was made. I just may do that if more arguments over this silliness continues within this thread.

OK I am not surprised that no one here knows about the acid alkaline diet, given that it is pretty anti-Atkins.

The acid alkaline diet states that many of the health problems that people have (including being overweight) come from eating "acidic foods". By acidic foods, they mean the ability to produce acid in the bloodstream. According to their beliefs, lemon juice (pH about 2; very acidic) is considered to be the most non acidic (alkaline) food, because it becomes alkaline in the blood after it is digested.

Acording to their views, "acidic foods" include anything with protein or refined sugars, i.e. they avoid all types of meats the way we avoid bread. Instead their focus is on greens (fruits and veggies) and whole grains. Not surprisingly, many of the people on this diet are vegetarians as well.

Based on April's descriptions of his other posts, it sounds to me like he is on this acid alkaline diet, and somehow didn't figure out that he was on the wrong forum. At least he is not trying to convert us to vegetarians.

Thanks Paladin for giving us some insight on that type of diet.

April,

The reason I placed the question on Atkins forum was BECAUSE of the COMMON SENSE - I did not trust JuckHu and his/her believes on the first place , I wanted to hear from "Atkins "people.
I was trying to see if "Atkins" people new about this particular "acidic food " ideas. That was SIMPLE as THAT. The question was not "worded " right, and it was confusing to some folks, but NOT to the AMOUNT of another threaded discussion on the topic of " my wording and the way the question was posted."

PS. I am here to enjoy myself and other HAPPY people; You are right, internet is a huge place, and lots of people to see and forums to read. LOL - time to move on...

Paladin,

I was surprised to see the posting on "acidic food" too. I did not know anything about it. Sometimes, here and there people say " grapefruit diet" "lemon water" and other things are GOOD for your weight loss. I think that acid helps to disolve fat in our body. I will try to do some research on this topic. I wonder, if there are some scientific pros and cons on this topic.

Thanks for responding to my question.

Rafaella.

Rafaella,

I don't think it was out of line for April to remind you of some "universal netiquette" that you will find useful on any bulletin board you might visit.

By starting your own thread, instead of posting your question to the one single solitary place on the board that "acidic foods" had ever been mentioned - out of thousands and thousands of posts - most of us had no clue what the devil you were asking about.

I feel I have to mention that this is a forum for people interested in low carb programs of eating. Chances are, if you start a thread asking a question about "acidic foods", the "grapefruit diet" or "lemon water diet" or "macrobiotics" or "orgone boxes", you may get no replies.

You can be sure, if that happens, that 99% of us simply have no clue how to answer, or can't see how it is relevant to the stated mission of this site. When that happens, you might consider turning to the broader net for your answer, rather than bumping the thread again with a demand for answers.

Since you have now gotten the answer to your question, I will close this thread and bid it "good night."
