Default Leg crumps on Atkins

Lately, I have lots of leg crumps. I am trying to eat everything by the book, supplement myself with Ca+, and drink my water. It could be that K+ levels are low.I cannot eat bananas or dry fruits, such as raisins. Any suggestions here?
Thanks a lot.
Rafaella.
P.S. I take also Multivitamins every day.

I think I remember it is usually lack of Potassium. (yes, from bananas)
you will be better off finding a potassium supplement - I know they are out there - and I have seen people getting relief almost immediately when they start taking them.

Leg cramps are very often the result of a lack of potassium, along with drinking more water than before. This can happen when beginning low carb, but taking potassium sups is not usually a good idea...too easy to do too much. You don't have to eat bananas or raisins to get potassium, either; some lc "legal" foods rich in potassium are spinach, avocados, asparagus, cantaloupe, broccoli and tomatoes. You can also use salt substitute on your food, which is potassium salts. Adding these things to your diet should help the problem.

sometimes zinc and magnesium in your supplements/food can also help.

I have experienced "crumps" and "restless legs" often, and have now been diagnosed as pre-diabetic (that was when I started lo-carb [Atkins, basically]), and I promise, I can swear by POTASSIUM, at bedtime. Calcium, w/ correct amts. of Magnesium and Vit. D. also seem to help. Although, the calcium may simply help me sleep because of its relaxing help. Also, not to harp, but drink the H20!!

Oh, and one more thing about the water -- I got tired of spending $ on bottled water (I don't like our community water taste), so I went down and bought a "Britta" (sp?) pitcher with the filter, and now I drink sooo much more water! And THAT makes a difference -- with blood sugar readings, when I "go" on the little stick, and on the scale. ;->

Watercress is also relatively high in potassium and is a good source of vitamins A & C, calcium and iron.
