| Thanks, Maxie, I trully believe that you are right. I have mentioned this in my above posting that are multiple other factors that would prevent one from loosing weight at the desired rates or lossing weight at all... I really don't know what is it for me. I do think that may be coffee and nutts. I am not sure, still trial and errors, who knows.I think, that I aslo have to ve careful with very large amnt of calories, and eat more lean meats. It is great that you posted in response to my thread. Thanks a lot. I enjoy other people' opinions. Have a great day! Rafaella. |

| I lost weight pretty slowly and my weight loss chart was not a straight downward line. Still, even losing slowly in fits and starts was way, way better than the accumulation of more and more weight! So, yes Atkins' plan has worked well for me*. Over the last few years I've done much experimenting to find what foods work better for weight loss and what foods hinder my weight loss. But, I've found it's not that straightforward - eat this, don't eat that. What "works for me" definitely changes over time. I presume that is due to some combination of hormone cycles and circadian cycles. For example, sometimes I can eat a lot more of certain foods - say, fruit and nuts - without triggering food cravings or regaining weight. Othertimes, even a little bit of fruit seems to lead to overeating and weight gain. I seem to do much better at weight management in late winter and through the spring. That's a concept that often gets overlooked in the diet books - what works early on isn't necessarily the regime that will keep working always. For me, it takes periodic tweaking of the food plan to avoid gaining weight. On a very simplistic level, just losing a lot of weight will lower your caloric requirements. A small body needs less fuel to move it around than a large one. Imagine the energy it would take to carry around a 30-lb suitcase all day. When you've lost 30 pounds, and are no longer carrying all that weight, your body needs less fuel; you would probably need to either cut portion sizes or increase exercise to continue to lose weight. So, some of us, it seems, need to keep an open mind about how we handle our weight management. We should try to be alert for metabolic changes that require modification to our eating/exercise habits. Oh well, it never gets dull! :o ~~~tlb *I will note that people who have abandoned the Atkins plan or LC because it did not seem to work for them (probably due to eating Advantage Bars, or too much cheese and bacon!), won't likely be posting much in an LC support forum. They will have moved on.
