| I haven't started too long but i am seeing results. As a Veggie it would be hard if it wasn't for meat free range from the frozen sections in supermarkets. I do have a couple of questions for more experienced low carbies, i have a terrible sweet tooth, what can i eat to meet my sweet demands. Also how do i control this horrible taste in my mouth-YUK. |

| Hi, Timita. Welcome. Check out the Cook Section, you'll find a lot of recipes for sweets. And, the best way to get rid of that taste is to make sure you are drinking lots of water, and then drink some more. Most of us have to really make an effort to get enough water; at least 8 glasses a day, in addition to your other liquids. Keep us posted on your progress.

| timita- welcome! i can't help too much with the vegetarian side, since i'm a carnivore. but i can send you good wishes! on the taste in your mouth, although it's annoying, it's actually good news! it means that you're in ketosis, and burning that ol' fat right off! as nita suggested, drinking plenty of water will help. some people chew on parsley sprigs. just be careful if you're chewing gum or using mints that you're not inadvertently getting sugar. on the sweet-tooth-you don't say if you're in induction or not, but i'm guessing you are? if that's the case...a little heavy cream whipped up with a bit of spendla, maybe some coco powder can sometimes help. others sometimes have sugar free jello, or if you are drinking any diet sodas, whipping up some cream and adding that to the soda can make a nice float. the thing you'll probably find, though, is after you continue to lc for a while, your tastes actually change. normally after about a week, most cravings go away. if you find you continue to crave sweets, it may be also that some of the sweet-stuff you're eating may be stimulating them, or perhaps there is some hidden sugar somewhere else in your diet. for some people, even splenda, anything that tastes sweet, causes cravings. for others, it's sugar that sets it off. so if it continues, keep on top of your choices and experiment to see if you can isolate and eliminate. keep checking in here: it's a great resource. and good luck!

| Ditto the great advice above! If you will resist the "sweets urge" for now, you will be rewarded with MUCH FEWER (and less intense) cravings later. That goes for the legal sweets, too... TRY to refrain from any kind of indulgence for the first 2 weeks (induction); after that, try the great "legal" suggestions above. You may find, however, that you don't even want/need them anymore! As for the keto-dragon-breath/taste: Sugar-free gum is my best friend! Good luck!
