Prepare for success:
Set your menus in advance. Make sure you have a lot of low-carb snacks in the house (mmm... turkey jerky) Make enough food that there's left-overs so you can have it for lunch the next day. Avoid packaged foods. Do as much from scratch as possible so you really know how many carbs/sugars went in to the dish. Try and keep your variety up so that you don't get bored (just like "real life" )
Oh, yes - that's HUGE! Prepare for success!

Never give up.
No one day or one meal or one missed workout or one iffy number on the scale means anything. The very next SECOND is all yours to make a better choice for your health.
When your brain clicks over to "lifestyle", you've made it, regardless of what the scale says that day.
Losing weight is easy. Keeping it off is the rest of your life.
Never give up! Never surrender!

Barb, I can only hope when I reach your "level of maturity" that I can be "an old bag" like you: slim, fit, have a wonderful attitude, active, helpful, kind, maintaining my weight, and being a thread hog. Just kidding....you know I luv ya!

LOLOLOL Max I luv ya too, girlfriend!!!!!

All kidding aside, I have to agree with Stacie................when you make the mental leap that this is a lifestyle, not a diet.........you're there, no matter how slowly you lose. And along with that mindset, you have to switch to thinking, "I DON'T eat that" as opposed to "I CAN'T have that."

I remember one time when the Little Debbie guy brought his delivery to our warehouse. He left some sample stuff behind, and the boss' wife offered some of it to me. I just said: "Thanks, but I don't eat plastic food." She laughed and said something about it being good to taste, but bad for your health.

Don't get me wrong, I love the taste of it for a couple of bites...then it doesn't seem to taste as good. And the after effects are horrible. My stomach gets angry and protests. I feel like garbage, and I get bloated and gain weight. I wonder how "Little Debbie" stays little......

My problem now is portion control on LEGAL stuff!

This WOL is a journey, not a destination.....for sure.

There is no ONE pointer. There is no secret. There is no magic.

There is only hard work, the will to continue, and self-knowledge.

Which, if you are serious, is enough.

Hope your "restart" is going well!

Rock on!

Lcandrea, I have to tell you I agree, however eating low carb in the past has been simply magically for me. That is one of the reasons that I am eager to get back on, not just to lose weight but to look and feel that healthy again.
Thanks for the input!!!
