| I want to get the most out of my time on Induction (which will be a while, but I will move to OWL sooner than before, because of all that I have read) anyway, I was wondering. My Mother used to tell me, " Don't eat late at night, you will gain weight!" I have read so many mixed reviews regarding that statement, and I wonder does that apply to atkins? Has anyone felt that they lost more weight or even felt better when they stopped eating after a certain time of night? **Keep in mind for me I start work at 12:30pm every day and work til 9pm. (including every other Saturday ) I usually eat all three meals here and a snack at (late late night)home. (sad huh?:o ) I eat when I am hungry.I watched Oprah the other day and her trainer (Bob Greene) was on there talking about not eating late at night and how hard it was for her. And that she will not have as much as a grape ( not low carb anyway lol) after 8pm, but she goes to bed at 10pm, hungry. what are your thoughts?? Just wanted to hear from others experiences regarding this. Do you have a cut off time? Thank as always,

| PQ, I think that if you are hungry, you should eat just enough to appease the hunger. Unless if affects your sleep. I personally can't sleep if I'm hungry, but also have a hard time sleeping if I've just eaten within the hour before I go to bed. Perhaps it's better to plan your eating/snacking so that you are done a while before bed, but so you aren't hungry at bedtime. (Did that make sense?) I guess you just have to experiment and see if eating late affects your weight loss or weight maintenance. Each person is different, after all, and thank goodness! Wouldn't life be boring if we were all alike?

| my understanding is that it's not so much about the time of day as it where it is in YOUR day. as in not packing it in right before hopping in bed, where it has no place to go besides your tush. |

| I agree with Goddess. It really depends on when YOU go to bed. It might be better to say, "No eating 2 hours before bed," than just no eating at night... I have to agree that when I cut off the eating by 8 pm, I seem to lose more & more steadily. That said, I do NOT agree with Mr. Greene about not even letting her eat a grape after her cut-off time! I think, if you are just *starving* or if you feel your blood sugar dipping really low, that you need to eat something -- 1 ounce of cheese or a small handful of seeds. Just enough to get your blood sugar back up and cut the tummy growling. I do NOT think you should eat a large snack or a meal within 2 hours of bed. But a tiny bit of food to calm the tummy is nothing to worry about & might actually boost your metabolism as well. Just my thoughts on the subject...

| I've heard all of the stuff about when you should and shouldn't eat and have never followed it for a minute. I get up at 9 am (I admit I have 2 cups of coffee, black or with a little real cream) I have my first meal between noon and 1pm. I eat my second meal between 5:30pm and 6:30pm. My third meal around 9pm or as late as 10pm, is generally a small something or other not a steak dinner. Then I go to bed at 11:30 to midnight. My experience is that I have lost weight with no problems even with this weird eating schedule. |

| Thanks everyone. I appreciate the support and help as per usual. I am going to try to stop eating 2 hours prior to going to sleep, unless I am very hungry then I will eat something small.

| Hey PQ! My DH works very long hours, and he is scheduled to get off work around 7pm (will switch to 8pm soon)... and a lot of nights he doesn't get home until 8 or 9 or even later. I try to have dinner fixed so that we can eat when he does get home, but that doesn't always happen either... I'm horrible about managing to time dinner so that it's ready to eat at the right time. I've had a period of very slow weight losses lately which are very atypical for me. I was rolling right along at 2-2.5 pounds lost per week without any problems for ages. I've always eaten when I was hungry and not worried about what time it is or how close it is to bedtime.

| Katie, Thanks for the experienced story, that is what I needed to hear. I appreciate it! I knew that there was someone else out there workin these crazy hours and not everyone was eating their last meal at 8pm snacktime. I don't eat dinner til nearly 10 pm sometimes! And sometimes don't hit the hay (like I Dad would put it) til 2 am sometimes. Thanks Katie! Thanks Everyone! PQ
