Default Feta Cheese - Induction

Hi,
I'm new I found this message board and i'm soooo glad I did! I've learned so much already from just reading the different topics. My question is i'm getting ready to start induction and i'm getting my grocery list together and I was wondering if feta cheese as a salad topping is okay for the induction phase?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks

Hmmm. I love Feta on my salads. Never thought to look at the label with regards to strict carb counting. I think in has very little and would count like other cheeses being 1 carb/oz.

Hmm... On the strict plan, I believe feta counts as a farmer's cheese or a cottage cheese so not allowed. But I'm not 100% sure. It might just be a "soft cheese"

Remember that induction is only the first two weeks or so, in the post induction low-carb life stage, you can definitely eat feta. (Lebanese, Greek and Mexican are some of my fav low-carb cuisines)

Okay I did some research and Feta Cheese is derived from "Goat,Sheep or Cow" milk. So I can use feta as a salad topping!!!

Just watch it guys because Feta is loaded with salt. And we all know what salt can do.

Perfectly legal, according to my edition of DANDR.

According to the USDA, 1/4 cup (which is a lot) has:
99 calories
5.33 gm. protein
7.98 gm. fat
1.53 gm carbs

But, as Libby points out, it also has
418 mg. sodium

and too much sodium can result in temporary water retention which might make the scale creep up. However, with good hydration, that will wash out.

HTH!

(I love feta)
