Default Goddess, what happened to Lisa?

In the morning KC STAR, your team leader Lisa seems to have "lost it" last week--and gained some. Poor Lisa. Wish we could convert her to low-carb and give her a better chance.

For those of you visiting this thread, I'm referring to a weight loss challenge being conducted by the local newspaper. Goddess is one of their cheerleader-coaches.

Turns out our team leader Lisa doesn't want to track her eating. No diary for that gal, oh no! If only she could realize how important tracking is for us successful losers. Seeing what you eat is one way to stay honest--and also to determine where you can make changes.

And apparently she's having a hard time with "cheats." Taste-testing the chocolate chips cookies she's baking for co-workers?? Now why would she take on a project like that?? Buying a whole bag of "baked Lays" chips and keeping them around the house? Treating her niece (and herself) to ice cream cones? Whoa. I couldn't handle that much temptation.

And while walking on the treadmill is definitely a good thing, it won't burn off as many extra calories as you think. Too bad, Lisa. Try again.

And if you pay any attention at all to your coach, goddess, you'll think again about the advantage of low-carb.:great:

hey there barb! yeah, it looks like lisa had a rough week. i understand her aversion to food journalling, since i hate doing that myself. i suggested she keep a running total in her head of how many points she's used, since that's what ww tracks. one step at a time...

overall, she has been doing pretty well, though, and has lost over 20 pounds since the project started 8 weeks ago. and she is going to various exercise classes (so look for exercise class reviews), along with team members and a few others who applied to be on the team but weren't selected. and most of the other members are posting losses as well. my south-beach lady got a whoosh 2 weeks in, which i was delighted with, since it convinced her to give up her "no-carb" plans...i was relieved.

to be honest, one of the toughest things for me participating on team lisa is the lack of low-carbers! most of these folks are either doing ww, watching fat, or watching calories. the menu's make me wince! and it makes me so sad to hear people talking about being hungry. you shouldn't have to be hungry to lose weight! i'd love to have a few atkin's converts, but so far, the lc gods haven't struck anyone with the light.

but i know, this is a process. i'm keeping the faith and gently pointing out the benefits of lc-ing whenever opportunity strikes. i will probably do some articles on why lc'ing is so cool for my site, which some of the folks do read. i hope eventually to pick up a few converts here and there. if someone is ready for lc'ing, then they'll pick up the info, you know? in the meantime, i'm doing my best to encourage everyone to keep good habits outside the nutritional arena and make my advice as generally applicable as possible.

Thanks for the update, and the links.

Yes, it's hard to be a cheerleader when your preferred "game plan" isn't shared by all. But they're lucky to have you.
