| Hello! I started Atkins 7 days ago and I'm miserable. I bought ketostix to test on and I am doing perfectly according to those, although I have not lost any weight yet. It's making me very discouraged. I have 6 weeks to fit into my wedding dress in time to have it altered for my wedding on July 1st. Please let me know what I can do to help me along fast and what I may be doing wrong? Thanks! |

| Probably the best place to start is for you to post a day or two worth of your daily menu. How much water are you drinking daily? How tall are you and how much are you trying to lose?

| ker-first of all, take a deep breath. now, isn't that better? the folks around here can be a great resource. but it's hard to be helpful without more info. as libby asked, how tall are you and how much are you looking to lose? you say you're doing atkins. do you have the book? are you following the plan, or doing your own version? and you say you're miserable. why? are you feeling bad physically, emotionally, frustrated, or what? to be honest, i normally discourage people from getting focused on the speed of the losses, although i undersand you want to look your best for your wedding. i would too! but as you've noticed, sometimes bodies don't cooperate with our carefully-made plans. if you can give us some better idea of your specific situation, we may be able to offer ideas to help. |

| Stress inhibits weight loss. You're about to have a big party with all of your family and close friends. Try not to sweat all the little details, but stop and enjoy the time with your loved ones. This weight loss plan shouldn't just be about fitting into your dress, but about being healthier for the rest of your life. It's about being there for your kids 20 years from now. It's about being able to enjoy outdoor activities. Your wedding will go just fine. Even if it doesn't, you'll likely have stories to tell your grandchildren. And... Drink more water...

| I am 5'7" and currently weigh 220. Long term I want to get down to 145 but anything I can get between now and my wedding is what I'm focusing on. I do have the Atkins book and I am following the plan, no carbs, strictly meat, eggs and cheese. So I have bacon and sausage for breakfast, a bunnless burger or chicken breast for lunch and then chicken or burger for dinner. I have noticed I'm drinking a lot more water! I used to drink about half a bottle a day, and now I'm drinking 5-6 bottles a day. I feel better, I have more energy and I'm not quite as tired, but the cravings are hard to fight!! Bad food is advertised and talked about everywhere! And since I'm so addicted it's hard to forget about them and not crave them. |

| Hi Kerkerak, Welcome to LCE. If you have the Atkins book that says NO carbs that is a very old and outdated edtion and much has been learned since 1972. Low carb diets are not No Carb, you need to get in good carbs everyday. Leafy green veggies should be a main stay of your diet. Check out atkins website for a list of low carb food but don't bother eating any low carb bars or that kind of junk. if you stick to low carb food the weight will come off but you need to give it time. |

| What edoggie said. You should be eating veggies--salad veggies, and green veggies--every day. One good way to fight cravings is to get moving. Adding activity to your day will really help you with the plan. A brisk walk a couple of times a day would be great. Depending on where you are, you can even do something practical, like clean out a closet or do some yardwork. Put that new energy to work! ![]() Best wishes. |

| And cut out the sodas. Drink water, water, and more water! And just like everyone above said, Eat your veggies!!!! You'll be much healthier, and happier, and will probably have fewer cravings because you'll be getting loads of vitamins and minerals. And congratulations on your wedding! |
