There have been many threads devoted to the "Golden Shot" therory on these borads. The latest being here.

Personally, I don't agree with that concept, and you can find my response here.

Thanks for putting a positive twist on the theory, however, by posting it as encouragement to stick with it!

Maybe the age has alot to do with it!? (perimenopausal/menopausal)?

Rhonda, I've read that article, and I think it is a YMMV thing.
I lost 19 pounds my first month on lowcarb, about 5-6 years ago. Subsequent attempts have been way less successful for me. I think it has alot to do with age, like you said...and each person's body chemistry, and we all know that "yo-yoing" is bad for you.
Although I can't find the reference right now, in Dr.Atkins New Diet Revolution, he does make reference to losing all your weight, then maintaining....not doing a "stop-start". I don't remember why, and I'll do my best to find that reference when I have more time.
Personally, I think my body "learned the trick" and refuses to comply most of the time! And, sometimes, I'm not as strict with my carb counts as I should be.

I don't think there is a definitive answer to this one. Each person has their own experience. I just wish I had stayed with it the first time. I've not had near the success since that I had then. Just my 2 cents.
