| What plan are you following, I am sure that there are none that say just eat protien... you have to eat veggies to get in some carbs/fiber.... you need to be eating about 3 cups a day of salad food - lettuce, celery, cukes, tomatoes, spinach, squashes, there are a ton of veggies out there that you can eat that are considered low carb... if you don't have the book, you need to go buy it or go the the library and borrow it and read the book.... that is the first step in any diet plan, to know what the plan is and how it works and what the key essential parts of it are... ie what youare susposed to eat and not eat... you definately need to get in veggies what you described looks like almost a starvation diet, and you will get bored with that very quickly.

| Low/controlled carbohydrate eating is not about eating no carbs. It is about adopting a healthy eating pattern that you can do for life. You have not posted any information in your profile so I am not clear on why you have chosen to try your method of eating. For example, are you overweight? If so, given your stated aversion to vegetables and carbs, what were you eating that caused you to be overweight? If you were not eating carbohydrates then, what is different now and why would you think anything would change? There are several different types of low carbohydrate "diets", though "diet" is a bad word because it implies something that has an end date. I suggest that you do some research and see if the methodology of this WOE is really suitable for you. Carbohydrates are essential, it is the amount that we are all trying to control, not eliminate, with this WOE.

| henry, i thought i might get some background , and this is what roach has said in regards to how much weight they would like to lose. i am thinking a trip to a doctor is necessary before roach attempts to do ANY diet . my two cents... worth about half that much 06-26-2006, 07:08 PM roach LCE Newbie Join Date: Jun 2006 Posts: 17 Re: Greetings newbies! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi I figured I'd introduce myself. I need to lose 40 pounds. Before deciding to try low carb I did loose 25 pounds through just regualr dieting. I hit a plateau, and started hitting the gym and eating low carb. So here I am! |

| roach- if you're avoiding all carbs, you are not eating "low-carb." you are depriving your body of what it needs to function properly in the name of losing weight...crash diets don't work in the long run, and they are very hard on your body in the interium. the yo-yo of crash dieting also makes your future attempts at weight loss harder, as it can damage your metebolc functioning. plus, for most it certainly wasn't an overindulgence in salad and spinich that created weight problems... i would really suggest you re-think your strategy. if you find you honestly cannot bring yourself to eat _any carbs_ at all, you need to get in touch with your doctor or a counselor to help you work with your feelings and work with you to adopt a healthy eating plan and become comfortable with that. put your hurry to lose weight on the back burner until you're finding you have a sense of peace about your approach and it's coming from a knowledgable, secure place. that's a far more important issue than the rush to lose the 40 or so pounds you've been worried about. if you've had any history of eating disorders, that is something to make sure you've completely addressed as well before embarking on a weight-loss program. i don't intend any offense; i often suggest to people that they look at other issues surrounding the situation for them, since weight problems are very complicated and seem to always have psychological as well as phsycial components for each of us. if you don't choose to seek professional support at this point, however, then please at least select a plan, like atkins, and follow it exactly. this will normally result in the weight loss you are wanting, plus a sense of control over your eating and a healthy, sustaininable apporach that can keep you thin for life. i strongly urge you to reconsider your apporach and go about getting the support you need to help you learn to confidently make healthy choices and feel good about your approach and progress. if it doesn't feel good, you're need to change your approach. good luck and peace out. |
