Question New with questions please!

Hi guys... I am Sherry and I am new to this forum. I started induction today. I was on Protein Power in 2001 and modified it a bit and lost 42 lbs in 3.5 mos. But seeing how I am now at the dreaded 35 yrs of age curse. I feel that my metabolism has really slowed the past two years. I quit lo carbing and gained it back. anyway, I am trying...okay committed to Atkins this go round. Any tips would be great. I have read most of the book and I purchased Flax seed oil supplements today. I also bought "dieters tea' which I will only use if really necessary. My main questions are:
When will the headaches and fatigue stop? I need some support on that issue.
How many flax seed supps should I take a day?
How much water?
And do most people wait until after induction to start really exercising?
Thanks guys and glad to meet you all!

Hi, Sherry.

If your headaches are from caffeine withdrawal, they're usually gone in 72 hours. For most people, the fatigue is replaced by better-than-ever energy levels by the end of the first week, give or take a day or so. You should be drinking a minimum of 64 ounces of water, spread throughout the day. More is ok, just keep it spaced out. Most people start to exercise when they feel up to the type of exercise they have in mind.

As for flax oil, I can't help there. I use lots of flax seed meal as an ingredient, but have never used the oil as a supplement. I'm sure someone else who knows will be along.

Hi Sherry, Talk to your Dr. about any exercise limitations you may have. Usually, as long as you have no medical limitations, you can begin exercising when you start induction. Just remember you are in this for the long haul and if you have not exercised regularly, don't try to do too much too quick. But the sooner you can get started ,the better. Remember, Dr. Atkins said exercise is not negotiable.

Hi Sherry Welcome to the forum. I don't follow Atkins - so can't provide much advice there for you re initial process. I did use flax oil for a while - but moved to the actual seeds. I was interested in your comment about the 'diet-tea' which you will only use if 'necessary'. You might like to visit our Tea Club 2006 - under the Challenge Threads. You will find that many of us drink green tea as an integral part of our weight management plans. Very best wishes for success with your plan. Please feel welcome to visit our journals and also establish one of your own.

Welcome to the forum, Sherry. And as for the "dreaded age 35"? Didn't anyone tell you that 40 is the new 20? So you're still a teenager.

Healthy nutrition (and I think low-carb is IT) and exercise are the best youthifiers imaginable. What you put in your mouth, and how active you stay, do more than anything else to keep you strong, supple, and radiant.

Go for it.

Yeah! What Barb said!

Actually, since I started lc'ing, it easily took about 15 years off my appearance. So I gleefully tell anyone who will stand still 2 seconds to listen that i AM getting YOUNGER! And it's true. I am. What else do you call it when you look better, feel better, have more energy, and are healthier than you were at 20?

At least, my daughter muttered something like that when I started wearing miniskirts. Har!

Yeah, it's true that losing weight and exercise makes a person look anf feel so much younger. And 40 is the new 20! True!!!!! I can't wait to feel hot again.

The very word "hot" has actually been applied to me by colleagues at work--female ones, I hasten to add. Hey--I was a fuddy-duddy at eighteen. I deserve my shot.
