| One reason my weight loss is sooooo slow is because I am taking two different meds each day that slow it down to a crawl. My cardiologist told me that was to keep my heart from working so hard. Explanation here. 7 years ago, I suffered a heart attack and consequently lost 1/3 of my heart muscle. I must take meds to keep me alive and must take certain ones for the remainder of my time on this planet. I can live with that. What I really detest is the fact that I now gain weight if I eat more than 1200 calories per day. So, I have to eat less calories, but now with eating around 1200 calories but way less carbs, my weight is slipping back down to a more acceptable level. I did lose a bit more than 7 lbs. in August, so I think maybe this low carb thing is what I really need. My cardiologist say to "Go For It". Now that the weather is cooling off, I can go outside again to walk in the coolness of the morning. That should help the fat disappear too. C |

| Oh and did I mention that while taking Flax Seed Oil Capsules (2 per day), with no other change in eating habits, my cholesterol went from 203 3 months ago, before I began low carbing, down to 140. I also take Cherry capsules and pomegranate capsules as well. One helps with my arthritis that is creeping into my old fingers and the other is for my cholesterol as well. Unfortunately, my hubby is one of those folks that can eat anything in any amounts and he remains thin. Not skinny, but stays at about 165 lbs. on a 6' frame, and he is 78 years old. He adores his cakes, pies, ice cream and lots of starchy food. If he eats low carb along with me, he will drop weight like a rock. Zoooom !!! So, I cook carby stuff for him and low carby stuff for me. I do get tempted now and then, but then I look at it this way..... how big do I wanna get, eh? :rolleyes C

| Hi, Katkins. Glad this woe is being so helpful to you. The combination of low-carb and exercise is a winner. Flax seed has been healthy for me, too. I prefer using ground flax seed for cereal and muffins--anything that works as food suits me fine. I buy whole flax seed at the grocery store, and grind it as needed in a cheap-o coffee grinder. It keeps well in the freezer. I don't know the "oil" equivalent from about 2 TBS of ground flaxseed, but I do know the fiber is extremely healthy for me. |

| C-When I had "carb eaters" to feed and I was concerned about tempation, I made a point of getting them the stuff that was least appealing to me. Later on, it mattered less -although sometimes it still helpes-but you can usually find some things that your family member likes much better than you ever did. Just a thought. The less temptation you have around, the better! |
