| I am one of those people who flip flop back and forth between diet after diet - even if I know what works the best for me. I am an experiementer and have always been. If I'm curious if something really does work, I will go for the gusto and try it to see if it really does work. So any time I read about a new diet plan, I must try it. That is the way I have always been! But not that long ago, the dh pointed out to me that I have been flip flopping back & fortn over the 3 years we have been married. And other people have pointed that out to me, too. But he is the one who I will listen to before anyone else. And I had to ponder him telling me that. He told me to find a way to eat that works for me, that I can stick with and that I know I can stick with - even if we are going to a friend's or out to lunch or breakfast, etc. It never fails. I ALWAYS return to the low carb roots. Even on our last vacation, I ate low carb and gained no weight. Sure, I had one small dessert but that was it. And then I was back to low carbing again. And I never touched the bread at the table in restaurants. When I eat low carb, my feet no longer swell and my tummy looks the slimmest (even if I'm not at 105 lbhs - which I currently am not but I don't care that I'm not there. That's just a number on the scale) I no longer have belly bloat, feel better, happier and satisfied with less food. Plus I am never starving. And I can eat on plan anywhere! So why did I ever stray in the first place? I was never a big meat eater growing up but the dh convinced me to start adding meat back in so I did with surprising results - my hair started growing faster and of course, I started looking slimming again. I now don't even have 2nd thoughts about trying to go another way or even experimenting with other plans to see if they really work. I have learned what has worked best for me, and it's the same plan that got me to lose 60+ lbs over the course of 3 years. I've also learned that numbers on the scale don't matter anymore. Sure. I could weigh 105 lbs again and struggle to say there and still be skinny fat. No thanks. I'd rather be 115 lbs (where I currently am), be healthy, feel good and look good. That's more important than whatever the scale says. Scales lie anyway. And I no longer obsess over clothes sizes, either. If it fits and it's comfortable, I could care less if it's a 2 or a 6. As long as it fits and it's not tight and it looks good, then that's what matters the most. So over the past 3 years, I have finally come to the conclusion - low carb works for ME. It alays has. It always will. And I will FINALLY step over the threshold and make it a way of life-FOREVER. |
