There are several carb counters available-check out a bookstore. www.fitday.com is a food tracker which will track everything including carbs. There is one here on Andrea's site once she gets everything back in place. Net carbs means total carbs minus fiber. For instance if a food label says carbof=hydrates 5 and fiber says 2 then you count it towards your allotment as 3. unless you're in parts of Europe where they already subtract fiber from carbs. Even on fitday you have to do the subtraction yourself. But this means if you pick high fiber fruits and veggies you can eat more. so if you are 20 carb induction level and fiber count is 6 then you should have 26 carbs listed on your food tracker or hand written journal. give or take a carb.

P.s. I'm assuming you have already read the book.

I have _Dr.Atkins' Carbohydrate Gram Counter_, a paperback booklet. But I soon got tired of looking things up, writing them down, then toting them up.

So, I was very HAPPY to find the electronic nutrition trackers. I used Fitday.com for a while, which is quite nice and free. But, I got tired of the time it took for online look-ups and I also wanted a better recipe calculator.

Cue-bald-one recommended DietPower, so I downloaded a free trial version from www.dietpower.com. I love the program - it's very complete and easy to use. You can see a detailed review I wrote at: http://66.165.154.60/BonnyDune/Miau/DietPower.asp

(I have no financial interest or other involvement with DietPower other than as a satisfied customer.)

There is also a program called Life Form (I think that's it's name), which may be worth a sniff, too.

If you have Atkin's DANDR, it has a section called the power of 5. It lists the serving amounts that equal 5 net carbs of a bunch of foods. For me that was the easiest way to add in the next level of foods.

(There's also a power of 10, 15, etc.)

>>Are these other food trackers free like fitday?<<

DietPower has a free 15-30 day trial, but it's about $49 to purchase a license. The license is good for up to 9 people in a household and you can install it at work and a home. www.dietpower.com.
I think Life Form has a free trial, too. http://www.fitnesoft.com/

Here is a link to a URL that lists different nutrition trackers:
