    to prevent weight gain?

For some reason, I am starting to find that I am having to lower it a little. I was maintaining lovely at 60 g but have put on about 10 lbs in 2 months (my own fault for only getting on the scale once a month. I would have been able to catch this sooner) I haven't changed anything. I'm exercising the same. I'm eating the same. But for some reason, those pounds came creeping on. So is it really true - overtime - that we might have to adjust our carb level again? Anyone else experience this? I dropped down to 55 g on Sunday. I'll check Friday to see where I am. (I used to sit at 45 g for maintenance but was able to increase without weight gain at first and now am wondering if that was my mistake - you know, getting away with the highest level of carbs you possibly can)

I believe that at maintenace, carbs and calories are instrinsically linked. It may be that the carb level of 60g could be achieved if you lowered your calories.

I eat no more than 1400 calories a day - and below that, I am left starving - probably because I work out 2 hours a day. So I honestly don't think my calories are too high-not for someone with my exercise routine.

Mmmm, no I agree, 1400 is not really high!

    Are you netting your carbs?

Metabolism is a moving target. .... (hey, maybe I'll add that to my siggy. )

An organism is constantly changing it's equilibrium. Hormones and age assure that OWL and maintenance will be different, even for the same person, depending on what's going on "inside."

My experience is that observation and journaling are very helpful to identify when one's metabolism is tending one way or another from time to time.
