| My reaction to stress throughout my adult life has been to shut down on eating. I am stressed and true to form I am shutting down again. I know this is bad, but I also have a summer cold and can't TASTE anything, making eating too much of an effort. Hopefully this is transitory, but any positive words, thoughts, suggestions would be much appreciated. The good news is that the causes of the stress (mom's heart surgery tues., son's college bills, etc.) are resolving. |

| If you don't take care of you....who will? Make yourself a priority. It's important to eat, and to eat healthy. This is YOUR time. You want to be around when that son of yours graduates college and gets a great job, don't you? Take time for you. NOTE: I've found that eating low carb these past 5+ years has warded off most illnesses. I can't tell you the last time I had a cold. I used to be hospitalized each fall with bronchitis and pneumonia, but I don't even get the sniffles any longer. Just my two cents... | The most challenging time to stay "on plan" is when you're not feeling well and are stressed out. For many people, this means eating the wrong things. In your case, it means eating not enough. As much as we all want a 'diet plan' that won't tax our willpower, sometimes you just have to step up and decided you're going to do the right thing even if you don't feel like it. Start now, pick a food that you know you should be eating and 'make' yourself eat it. Have a salad or some eggs and sausage or whatever it is that you've been omitting from your way of eating. It's just one conscious decision but that's what low carb is, a bunch of conscious decisions put together. As long as you make a majority of the right decisions, you win! Oh and drink your water Best of luck! |

| I agree - you need to have something to keep you nourished if you are finding that food is not palatable, then what about a protein shake? I will add cream or H&H to up the calories a bit and add kefir to increase the protein. you need the vitamins and minerals, plus the proteins and fat to help stay healthy. Hope this helps a lil bit.... Terese LCE Member since 12/00 My LC web site |

| Thanx guys, today went much better, I think I just needed a chorus of voices to join the one in my head saying do what's good for you. I managed eggs and tomato juice this am. A huge salad with meats and cheese @ lunch. And a crab to be dipped in melted butter is waiting for dinner w/ maybe sauteed zucchini. |
