| I started induction on July 1st and am basically still there. I lost 14 pounds in the first two weeks. Since then, I've only lost four more pounds. Now, I honestly only want to lose another 10-15 pounds, but I really want to lose them. I have upped my water to a gallon/day, thanks to this board! Basically a daily menu is: omelette with cheese and some veggies for breakfast, hamburger or salad with protein stuff (eggs, cheese, soy nuts, grilled cheese, tuna, shrimp salad, whatever), mock danish snack, dinner of meat and veggies and then a cream cheese snack. Do I need to add in carbs? If so, what kind? Obviously, I'm nervous about doing this. I have snacked on pepperoni slices. Could this be the culprit? Is it possible that I'm having too much cream cheese? Thanks so much!!!! Blessings, Cindy |

| Momto6 - you may be seeing a slow down in your weightloss because you really don't have that much left to lose. I am currently 11 pounds from my goal and average about 3 lbs per month weight loss. I noticed my loss slowed dramatically the closer I got to goal. Your menu seems fine. Jen 175/131/120 |

| Cindy, cheese does tend to stall me. I have had to quit eating it for awhile. I notice when I do eat it not lose any weight fora few days. I still have days when I just have to have a mock Danish, but I have learned I have to limit the cheese. Good Luck! Susan ( AKA Northwest) 207/178.5/160 |

| In Dr. Atkins book there is a section about this. I can't recall it because my book is not here. Maybe someone can look it up and post it. |

| I had the same experience as Cindy. As I got closer to goal, I had to tweak the food plan a few times. What worked early on, didn't work when I had less weight to lose. I reduced the amount of cheese, nuts, sausage and other calorie-dense foods in favor of more veggies. ~~~Teelbee 174 (Mar. 2002, highest weight), 164 (Jan. 2003, begin LC) 164/135/137-134 remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic |

| You've lost a total of 18 lbs in 2 months. That's an average of 9 lbs. per month. That is a FANTASTIC start. There are a couple of rules to this part of losing weight: 1) you will lose weight more slowly the closer you are to goal and 2) you will lose more slowly the less weight you have to lose. So...............you basically qualify for both rules. Your body can't keep up that fast rate of loss. AND you may be heading into a temporary stall. That's OK. Keep eating healthy, go ahead and add more veggies. Nuts are ok to snack on. They are soooooooo heart healthy. Hang in there, and you may slow to a 1-2 lb loss per month. Are you taking measurements, are you exercizing. I am still losing inches, but the scale isn't budging. Oh well........I FEEL great. I haven't exercized as diligently as I did in the beginning, what with the HOT spell we had and now I am working TONS of hours. (swimming pool supplies sales, lots of ppl are getting their closing supplies) I am in a slump and I am sure it is due to the lowered exercize, in my case. Accept the fact that the loss is going to slow. That is NORMAL. Just hang in there, it will happen, maybe more slowly, but it will happen!!! | Thanks all! Basically what I'm hearing is that this is normal. I should up the good carbs (veggies and some nuts) and decrease the really high fat stuff. Is that about right? Thanks SO much! Oh, I had lost two more pounds as of this morning and I'm working through my gallon jug of water today! Blessings, Cindy |

Yes, that's pretty much how it seems to be for many of us. As for nuts, I eat them in carefully measured quantities - 1 oz. per day. Latey, I have to be quite moderate with the almond flour, too. I also do better if I limit salty foods, so now I get unsalted nuts. Some times I'll sprinkle just a bit of salt on them myself - that way, I'm in control the amount. Nuts are quite high fat, but they are still nutritional powerhouses - essential fatty acids, vitamin E and probably lots of good things science hasn't even discovered, yet! As for water, to avoid mineral depletion, I prefer the rule of thumb that recommends drinking a half ounce of water for each pound of body weight (more if sweating due to heat or exercise). Obviously, a 130-lb person isn't going to need as much fluid as a 250-lb. person. Using this rule of thumb, a 250-lb person would need 125 oz of water while a 130-lb person would need 65 oz. of water. ~~~Teelbee 174 (Mar. 2002, highest weight), 164 (Jan. 2003, begin LC) 164/135/137-134 remember, amateurs built the Ark, professionals built the Titanic |

| I have noticed that walnut flour is only 3 grams carbs per 2 oz package and almond flour is 6, so I have switched to walnut flour and it makes a great sweet bread when mixed with whey protein powder and davinci sf vanilla, cream cheese eggs and butter! Plus they sell it at food city and walmart..I was ordering from almondsonline and it was high! Package says 2 oz but also says 2/3 cup! Pecan flour is only 4 carbs per serving, and serving is 1/2 package! To get to the rainbow you must first pass through the rain! |
