the reason is that someone else registered with the user name "lanny" before you re-registered.

sorry, but there isn't much I can do about that...

Lanny, I agree. I really missed the weekly posting on monday. Guess we just have to accept this until the old one is up and running again. Hey, we might meet some new friends!

Donna,

from what I gather -- Andrea and many other really like this new message board format, so i think its gonna be permenant.

just like anything new - we have to get used to it (and al the new controls) all over again, just like last time we moved in June of 2001, and you have to hope all our *friends* re-register here too

considering we had over 20,000 registered on that site...

It is just going to take time to get everything moved over from the other database, to this site... Articles, recipes, etc
so - hang tight... but you know Andrea... she will make this the best ever.

Doesn't matter to me where we "meet"...where ever you all are, it's home to me.

The first few days were rough because it was all new, but now I'm feeling very, very comfy.

Kudos to you, Andrea.

Yes, it does take getting used to. The one thing I don't like and maybe there is a way to change it, is regarding the active topics. That was my main way of reviewing topics on this forum. Now, when I click on active topics, it shows me all topics since I was last in the forum, but it shows EVERY SINGLE time someone has replied, whereas the last site would just show it once. Some topics are rather hot at times, and you can see the same one 10 times! I usually have to go through 5 pages of topics, with numerous repeats. Anyone have any suggestions on getting around this? Thanks!

I LOVE this site! When I log on, I first go to Advanced Search under the Find button. There you have a quick search which will find all the threads you've posted to which have had a reply.

Then I check private topics, and finally what's new since my last visit OR What's hot today.

There's a great deal of flexibility and the interface is much more up to date. I love this place!

Someone mentioned, and i think it was Maggie... Up top, where it has the link for lowcarbeating.com, there is a lil globe.. if you click it (err, hold your cursor there) you will get 2 options.. and one is Active Topics.

shazzam - there it is.

Yes, but Vicki's right about every post on every thread getting it's own line. The other choice under the globe is "Today's active topics" that just gives a listing of what's getting the most activity and, if I recall, there are not separate listings for every post.

I ike this site better, too. Having a search feature far outweighs any disadvantages that I've noticed.

This site is also ~considerably~ faster than the old site was; on my system, at least. I have DSL and fairly lax browser settings (had to do that for another site), so I never understood the frequent long delays accessing pages at the old site.

Everything just seems more robust here.

100% with you on that. It's VERY tough to pick and choose topics b/c of the repetition. I feel the same way!

HOWEVER...

I'm with Teelbee in stating that the SEARCH function alone is worth the price of that Active Topics list being perfect.

Re: speed...

Hate to say it, but once we're back up to 20K members, it'll slow right back down again, I'd bet.

All the same, I support our webmaster in whatever she deems best for our little home... and I'll show up to it wherever it may be.

Woo hoo!

I like a lot of the features on this new site too. I trust Andrea to make changes that will be best for us .

Mine was running very slow yesterday and I started to panic. I thought, "oh no, not again". I don't know what it was, but this morning it is running much more quickly. Whew!
I am just loss when I cannot get on daily.

I, too, like the search function. Also, the threads load up very quickly. (Although, that might be because the database is still relatively empty?)

I suggest reviving the old forum but making it read-only. That way we could still read the old posts and make links to them from this forum.
