| Those increases confuse me too, Ken. I know a lot of my increases are water weight. Have you been eating anything salty lately, or perhaps with hidden salt in it? Ham, lunch meat, bacon? And are you drinking enough water to flush it all away? Don't obsess over a couple of lbs up. Look at your overall loss, the pattern of loss, over the long run. And at your measurements, too. They'll be a much more accurate indicator of your loss.

| Don't worry about that. I weigh myself all day everyday because I am new to this LCE lifestyle. I go up and down all day long but I am going down overall. Forinstance last week on Sunday 4/29/07 I was up to a whopping 269.4 lbs, this morning I weighed myslef and I am 262.8 lbs. 7lbs in 2 days seems impossible, but your body has to get rid of all of the salt, water, and process all of the protein (which burns slower anyway and usually is more salty), then it has to consider all of the exercise and it just takes a little time before your body cathces up. It is kinda like watching a pot boil as soon as you turn your head it starts out of no where! Don't give up just wait until a few months from now when you've dropped 20 lbs! |

| Thanks guys! I hadn't considered extra salt. I have been eating a large amount from the start, and I'm not sure if anything has really changed in the past several days though. I have been eating Underwood devilled ham for lunch the past few days. And maybe I haven't had as much water as I should. I'll try to drink more. Thanks again. Ken |

| Yes. The more sodium you take in, the more water needed to "wash it out." Even at that, there's usually a lag of a day or two before the extra water pushes the sodium balance back to where no excess water is being retained in the tissues. Other elimination issues (or the lack thereof) can also be responsible for weight gain. If you become irregular, that can add a pound or two also. I can't remember, but you are weighing yourself at the same time each day, under the same circumstances, right? If not, remember (as Asp. points out above) that weight will normally fluctuate throughout the day. HTH

| Maggie, Yes, I absolutely weigh myself under the same circumstances every day...same time, same thing on my body, same scale, same room. I was back down to 206 today. It amazes me how strong the human reaction to variation is! I teach that!! I try to convince managers NOT to react to ups and downs in performance indicators merely because they SEEM like they represent changes in the level of performance. Rather, use some of the statistical charting tools available to separate the signals from the noise. Of course, I could not follow my own advice Ken |

| ken, that's a hoot. the absolutely MOST annoying advice in the world is one's one, in my opinion. and it's even worse when it's good!
