This morning in chat, someone mentioned the KISS method of low carbing, so I thought I'd give an overview:

What is KISS?
KISS, which stands for "Keep it simple, sweetie", is a focus on what you might call "real" foods -- basically, anything that is NOT processed.

The most strict version of KISS will include ONLY unprocessed meats and vegetables.

More flexible versions of KISS are less restrictive, as many feel that eggs, dairy products and nuts are also natural, and the processing required to make cream, butter, and cheese (in their purest forms, anyway) require only minimal processing and qualify as "whole foods". Some may also include artificial sweeteners on a limited basis

WHY do people KISS?
Many reasons...the most important being a stall buster. When you go on very strict KISS (which looks a bit like the paleo diets), you do a real purge of chemicals and additives.

Others may do a modified KISS because they just don't want a lot of additives in their day to day diet, but broaden the definition to make it liveable day to day.

Emelia, do you KISS?
Truth is, I do a modified KISS. I eat hormone/antibiotic-free meats and dairy, boatloads of vegetables, and a bit of fruit and nuts. My biggest "non-KISS" item is my morning coffee. For me, one of the most wonderful things about this WOE is that I have permission to eat the delicious food of the land! Vegetables are fantastic...dairy rocks (don't you take my butter away from me!)...and meat? Well, yum, of course! Every so often, I get some Pleasantville Cookies, but that's about the extent of my "products" purchases. I can have as varied a menu as I choose by sticking to my modified KISS, and I've yet to get bored with my food.

So anyway...that's KISS in a nutshell (pun intended!). For more information, please see
Kiersten's KISS Rules.

Hope this helps!
