Yikes...I hope this isn't true! I just purchased Atkins' pocket carb book and noticed that he listed both tea and coffee (decaf and regular) as having one carb per eight ounces. What's everyone's take on this?

I don't know about tea, but coffee does have carbs, and 1 carb per 8 ounces sounds about right. If you're in induction, it should definitely be counted, and somewhat limited. I'm about 4 months into OWL, so I'm mostly focusing on keeping track of the carbs that I eat, rather than the 1-2 cups of coffee I drink per day.

MOST people don't seem to have a problem with coffee, or tea - I think it more depends on what, and how much you put in it. Use a liquid Splenda product, rather than granular, use heavy cream instead of half & half or milk, limit the cream to 1-2 tablespoons, etc.

Careful choices won't derail you, and will allow you to keep your coffee and teas.

Yeah, according to fitday they've got carbs. So does the artificial sweetner and the cream that I put into my coffee. I drink a lot of coffee and I used to count the carbs and then quit. It's only when I find that I'm not losing weight at the rate I think I should that I start counting every tiny carb, no matter how small, even the coffee...and that helps keep me "honest" and losing weight again.

My two cents...

I think I am going to be one of the unlucky few who cannot drink coffee or diet pop. I find that when I do, I stall or gain. Sigh...

No more vices left.
