| I just got my fasting blood glucose levels...104! My doc says that's in the "normal" range, which she says is 70-105. But other sources say that's getting into the pre-diabetic range. Wow! How is my body, at only 20 grams of carbs per day, able to pop a 104 on a glucose test? Now I'm not, technically, a doctor ( Any info appreciated! Ken |

| I'm not an expert Ken and that is why I did some research. I'm wondering if maybe your body is plateaued because you are ready to higher your carb level. Before I reached goal I plateaued for months even though I was doing a lot of exercise and was on plan perfectly. I tried everything but when it was suggested to increase my food only then did I get back to goal. I'm sorry to hear about your blood sugar level being borderline. You are taking care of yourself and are considering lowering caffeine which from the article looks to be the problem. |

| Thanks for the info everyone. Still plateaued at week 5 at 8 pounds down. Yesterday I hardly ate at all. I know that "feeling" hungry is a signal that your body thinks it is starving and will not burn fat. So I don't allow myself to get hungry. But protein seems to last a really long time, and I actually didn't feel hungry until about 6 pm (afer only eating a 2-egg omelette an 3 small saugsages at 9:00am. I was drinking water during that time. My snack was a bit of cheese. Then for dinner I had a salad, some turkey meat and faux-tatoes. I thought that might push me faster into busting the plateau. But this morning still no effect. I know, I know, your body doesn't register the effects of what you did one day ago, usually. But emotionally I can't help but be a bit frustrated. I am definitely keeping at 20 carbs per day. I find it hard to believe that INCREASING my carbs now will help me lose more weight. Is that a common thing? Anyway, thanks again for the info. Ken |

| Ken, Stalls are one of the most frustrating events associated with this WOE. It may not be much comfort, but remember that the definition of a stall is one month without losing either pounds or inches. Have you lost any inches? Looking at your menu, it occurs to me that you may not be eating enough. Remember, that if the body thinks it is starving, it will slow its metabolism to try to hang onto weight. It may seem counter-intuitive, but sometimes you actually must eat to lose weight.

i'll be kind and spare you my "patience grasshopper" spiel. drinking the water is great. exercise, if you're not already, also helps a lot of folks keep things moving. and if it's getting to you, kick your weighins to be less frequently and take measurements again. peace out, fellow traveller. |

| Try upping your fat-Dr. A states you need fat to burn fat. It worked for my stall and also upped my calories. |
