The past two days have been an absolute mess! We had lots of rain here and everyone's yard grew to jungle like proportions, its finally dried somewhat and now they are mowing like mad. Our own yard was almost 1' tall before we got it done. My allergies are full blown right now and I'm taking pseudafed for the runny nose, etc. and have absolutely NOappetite. I'm literally struggling to get every calorie and carb I can get in which is a totally new problem for me LOL! I'm in OWL, and losing just fine at 35-40 carbs per day. I've got to work 12 hour shifts the next 4 nights and my energy is waning fast. Does anyone have any suggestions for me to get my appetite back up or maybe something that will keep me going till my allergies are under control? I've been struggling to get 800 calories and even 8-10 carbs a day yesterday and today.

Susan,

I can offer some advice. I get allergies, too, and have found that LCing actually helps relieve my symptoms. However, when I do have symptoms, here's what I try:

--Drink plenty of water to purge your system of the histamines.

--Start megadosing on Vitamin C. Vitamin C is the best immune booster I know of. It doesn't harm your body and only stays in your system for 24 hours, so you can't overdose. I'm taking about 10,000 mg. per day right now. You'll know you've had too much when it cause your bowels to loosen.

--Make sure you're taking a good dose of essential fatty acids. They are also important for immune health.

--Finally, for prevention, I've started taking echinacea twice a day.

I've had immediate and signficant relief by adding these to my daily supplements. You might give it a try and see if it helps!

I would also suggest that you make yourself some soothing, broth-based soup. Here's a quick recipe for EASY chicken soup:

Bring six cups chicken broth to a gentle, rolling boil. Add 1/2 c. chopped celery, 1/2 c. chopped onion, 1 sliced carrot, 1-2 bay leaves, and a couple of black peppercorns to the broth and reduce heat slightly. Allow to cook until vegetables are softened, about 15 minutes.

Stir in 1 c. pre-cooked, chopped chicken. Allow chicken to heat through. Remove bay leaves and peppercorns. Season to taste.

Yummy! Nutritious and satisfying when you're feeling snuffly.

Amy
