I purchased Wal-mart brand cream cheese the other day and when I got home I noticed it has 2 carbs per serving versus Philly Cream Cheese which says less than one gram. The ingrediants were the same, and it's the same size portion. When I went to Safeway yesterday, I looked at their store brand cream cheese, and it says 2 grams, too. This is the regular cream cheese, not the low fat version.

Does anyone know if there is really that much of a difference or are they misinformed? Thanks!

does it taste the same?

the only thing i can think of is maybe the amounts of the ingredients are different

but if it's say, cream, milk, etc and NO sugars... then i dont get it either.

labeling can be really off on certain products... i dont understand it all the time either.

I have noticed this also...I just count it as two carbs....just to be on the safe side

If I set a goal...then when I finally reach that goal..I am afraid that I will use it as a license to eat..therefore..I have no goal...only to stick to this wol FOREVER!!!

Cream does have carbs in it so maybe there is more cream? Just a thought, but I would definitely count it like the package says.

By the way, according to the packages I have here, the "lower fat" cream cheese does not have more carbs, added sugar, etc. This is the Philly brand and I assume it's because it's a "real" cheese itself (neufchatel) as opposed to a remanufactured version of the other stuff. Don't know if that holds true for all brands so, as always, read those labels!
