Default Afternoon Snack Suggestions Needed

I was wondering if anyone has suggestions as to what I can eat in replacement of ice cream and frozen yogurt. Since summer has hit and it's so hot, I find that I am craving frozen yogurt or ice cream in the afternoon. We have a yogurt place that does mix ins like Coldstone a block from the office, but they don't have sugar free. Neither does the Gelatto place that is around the corner. Sometimes I will get a Frappaccino, but only the caramel sugar-free light - I know this is not ideal, but at least it's cold and gives me a little caffeine to help with the night time work out!

Ideally, I would like to find something that works to quench the craving for cold and creamy, that is not a bad choice!

Help!

Take some frozen strawberries and put them in a blender with some cream and process until smooth. Makes a nice strawberry shake. Of course, there are a lot of l/c ice cream recipes that you can make.

I use the same idea as Henry but with frozen blueberries. Just like having ice cream.

Actually, I am talking about when I am at work! I usually crave something sweet around 4PM - I guess I could take a blender to work - stranger things have been done, I'm sure!

Get a Magic Bullet blender. I got mine at a WalMart Supercenter. It's small, powerful, and makes great shakes.

I make a shake using Calorie Countdown chocolate milk, 2 scoops of whey protein powder, and ice, blended in my Magic Bullet. Makes a thick shake, very creamy. Sometimes I add a bit of Walden Farms chocolate syrup for an even chocolatier taste. Lots of protein, which will give you a boost when you have that 4 p.m. need-something-right-now crash.

I make up an ice cream dish with a slightly softened SF fudgebar (CarbSmart), a spoonful or two of freshly whipped cream (I whip my own and keep it in the fridge), and the same of some peanut butter.

I do this in the evenings, put it in a Tupperware container, then take it to work with me and keep in the freezer until I'm ready for it in the afternoon.

Have you been to Linda Sue's web site? She has a big recipe section, including sweets. I may make her chocolate truffle cake this weekend. A lot of low-carbers user her recipes. She has notes and pictures, etc.

LOL Shelley!

Well, at least the link is there now!

I like the recipes here, too, but I love how Linda has pictures, a star rating and comments about what she thought of the dish. You can tell she spends a lot of time on this site and it sure is helpful!
