I'm losing my confidence. I've not cheated once since March and now I can't get over this stall. I'm fighting the same pound to pound and a half for weeks now. I'm starting to wonder if I should just give up, but after losing 49 pounds that would be stupid! I just need to see that darn scale move just a little! My problem is that I'm not a real meat eater. Veggies I love. But I do get real hungry. Any ideas what I can have for snacks when I'm really hungry but don't want a lot? I've got to get my motivation back or I'm afraid what might happen. Thanks.

Donna,

I understand the frustration. There isn't a lot of other information to work with so let me give you some ballpark suggestions:

1. Go back to basics. That could mean anything from re-read your books to start at induction then rebuilding your eating program to simply dropping back a bit on carbs.

2. If you are not tracking what you eat carefully, do so. DIET POWER and FitDay are the 2 most prominent ways to do so. Sometimes we just do see what we are doing wrong till we see the cold, hard facts in front of our eyes. Doing this takes a bit of time to start but it becomes second nature after you practice.

3. Don't forget where you came from! You are 49 lbs better (weight wise) than before. This is a WOL. If you are still in a "DIET" mentality, you will have a hard time with stalls no matter when they occur.

4. Sometimes we succeed when we just "let the game come to us." In sports the idea is to practice basics over and over till they become second nature. With any WOE, especially one that changes like Atkins does (induction up through maintainance), it is easy to forget basics. (See #1)

Just some random thoughts.

HANG IN THERE!!!

Don

Great advice Don!

Donna, a stall is something we all face on the WOE at one time or another. Don't give up, because for one thing when you're not losing pounds your body is catching up with all the new changes. Check your measurements, I lose inches when I'm not losing pounds.

About your hunger, fat in the diet controls hunger. Do you like fish or chicken? Ample protein is important. What about tuna salad, egg salad, deviled eggs? Cheese and eggs, soybeans are all good protein substitutes.

Make sure you're drinking lots, and lots of water.

Lawbooks has a great thread in the Newbies section on why you shouldn't give up. Take a look:

I found that coming to the forum during my stall of several months made all the difference for my morale.

Hang in there gal!

Donna,

I feel your pain. I finally got a visit from the WHOOOSH fairy this morning. I had been stalled for about a month. And coincidentally I had not exercised much either. Are you exercising??? CarbHealth magazine( www.carbhealthmag.com ) talks about how we lowcarbers only need to exercise for 20 mins as opposed to highcarbers needing to exercise for 40mins. We have an advantage there. Try to get in 20 mins of walking or cycling 3 X's per week. It might make all the difference.

Donna, for snacks, I've been eating Kalamata olives lately. They are salty, but they are delicious. They cost more than black olives, but they are worth it. Get the ones with the pits so you can't just "inhale" a whole can/jar at a time.
